The Dodgers just suffered another tough defeat at the hands of the Brewers, who again won the game in the final at-bat. To set the scene, bottom of the 10th, bases packed, Ryan Braun at the plate. Braun pops up to shallow center, where Matt Kemp positions himself for a strong throw. At third base, Nyjer Morgan ignores orders to stay put and tests Kemp. A merely average throw nails Morgan, but Kemp's heave is anything but. The play at the plate ...
Safe is the call, and the Brewers win, 3-2.
The question is whether Dodger catcher A.J. Ellis made the tag. If he did, then Morgan was out. From the looks of it, home-plate ump Mike DiMuro didn't have an unobstructed view of the tag, but it's hard to tell.
It's a bang-bang play, as they say, and it's not clear the call was wrong. Still, Morgan might have been out despite Kemp's poor throw.
Was Nyjer Morgan safe?
For the second night in a row, the Dodgers lost to the Brewers in dramatic fashion. But did the Brewers score the winning run because of a blown call?
