The New York Yankees have added right-handed relief pitcher Mickey Storey off waivers from the Houston Astros, the team announced Tuesday.
The 26-year-old Storey made his major-league debut with the Astros on Aug. 3, facing two batters and getting both out in a game against the Braves.
Appearing in 26 games, Storey went 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 34 strikeouts in 30 1/3 innings while allowing just two home runs. He was one of 54 major-league pitchers to strike out more than 10 batters per nine innings while pitching at least 30 innings in 2012.
Storey pitched in 38 games (including two starts) for Triple-A Oklahoma City in 2012, going 7-4 with a 3.05 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 72 strikeouts in 65 innings.
