  • Adam Rosales: Announces retirement

Rosales announced his retirement from baseball on his personal Twitter page Tuesday.

Rosales' career was far from illustrious, but he managed to get at least some big-league time in 11 straight seasons from 2008 to 2018. He'll hang up his cleats with a career .226/.291/.365 slash line in 653 major-league games, appearing everywhere on the field except catcher and center field.

  • Indians' Adam Rosales: Back in action at Triple-A

Rosales (oblique) was reinstated from Triple-A Columbus' 7-day injured list Sunday and has since appeared in two games for the affiliate.

Rosales was sidelined for slightly more than the minimum amount of time with the oblique injury. He'll fill a utility role for Columbus now that he's healthy again but will probably need multiple infielders at the big-league level to succumb to injuries before receiving a callup.

  • Indians' Adam Rosales: Out with oblique injury

Rosales was placed on the injured list at Triple-A Columbus with an oblique injury Wednesday.

The severity of the injury is not yet clear. Rosales is not on Cleveland's 40-man roster, so he's unlikely to be considered for a callup even if healthy.

  • Twins' Adam Rosales: Traded to Cleveland

Rosales was traded to Cleveland for cash considerations.

He'll likely just add depth at Triple-A for the Indians. He was hitting .194 with a .485 OPS at Triple-A Rochester.

  • Twins' Adam Rosales: Back with Twins

Rosales signed a minor-league contract with the Twins on Tuesday.

Rosales is back with the Twins after being cut loose by Minnesota last week. The utility man, who hit .294/.368/.735 with four homers and a 4:4 BB:K through 15 Grapefruit League games, will report to Triple-A Rochester to open the season.

  • Adam Rosales: Released by Twins

Rosales was released by the Twins on Friday, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.

Rosales held his own in camp, slashing .294/.368/.735 with four homers and a 4:4 BB:K through 15 games. Still, it wasn't enough for the utility man to secure a spot on Minnesota's Opening Day roster. Rosales will look to latch on elsewhere as a utility option.

  • Twins' Adam Rosales: Knocks two-run homer

Rosales went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer and a walk Wednesday against the Phillies.

Rosales took Ranger Suarez deep in the second inning for his first homer of spring. The non-roster invitee, who is currently 2-for-6 through a trio of Grapefruit League games, is currently on the outside looking in at a roster spot.

  • Twins' Adam Rosales: Signs with Twins

Rosales signed a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training with the Twins on Friday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

Rosales will earn $1 million if he makes the major-league roster but can opt out March 19. The veteran has received at least some big-league playing time in 11 straight seasons, although he only received 21 plate appearances last year. The 35-year-old can fill in all around the infield and occasionally in the outfield corners, but his light bat (career .226/.291/.365 slash line) means it's unlikely he'll earn an Opening Day roster spot.

  • Indians' Adam Rosales: Contract selected by Indians

Rosales had his contract purchased by Cleveland on Tuesday.

Rosales has spent the season with Triple-A Columbus, hitting a modest .239/.313/.445. The veteran has appeared everywhere but catcher and center field over his 10-year major-league career, but his .227/.292/.365 career slash line means he'll be nothing more than bench depth for Cleveland.

  • Indians' Adam Rosales: Signs with Indians

Rosales signed a contract with the Indians on Tuesday.

Rosales has found a new home after failing to secure a roster spot with the Phillies and subsequently being released. The 34-year-old will report to Triple-A Columbus to open the season. While he has the ability to play around the infield, Rosales hit just .225/.260/.353 in 105 games with the A's and Diamondbacks last season, so he could be limited to an organizational depth role.

  • Phillies' Adam Rosales: Granted release

Rosales was released by Philadelphia on Friday.

Rosales will look to latch on with another organization after joining the Phillies on a minor-league deal this winter. The 34-year-old has appeared in over 100 big-league games each of the last two seasons, but he hasn't been able to find any sort of groove at the plate during that time. During 105 games between Oakland and Arizona last year, he slashed just .225/.260/.353 with seven home runs and 36 RBI. Rosales provides the ability to play all around the infield but will likely settle for another minor-league deal in the near future.

  • Phillies' Adam Rosales: Joins Phillies on minors deal

Rosales signed a minor-league contract with the Phillies on Wednesday which includes an invitation to spring training, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

Rosales split time between Oakland and Arizona in 2017, hitting a combined .225/.260/.353 with a brutal 32.1 percent strikeout rate in 105 games at both stops. Still, the 34-year-old can play all around the diamond on defense, so he'll get a chance to compete for an Opening Day roster spot as the Phillies' utility man.

  • Diamondbacks' Adam Rosales: Occupies small side of platoon with Lamb

Rosales went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Padres.

With Jake Lamb batting just .146 in 123 at-bats against left-handed pitching this season, manager Torey Lovullo has been benching the All-Star more often versus southpaws in the second half, with Rosales emerging as Lamb's most common platoon partner. Rosales wasn't able to do much against Padres lefty Travis Wood on Tuesday, but it's unlikely to dissuade Lovullo from continuing to use the veteran utility man at third base on the occasions Lamb is rested.

  • Diamondbacks' Adam Rosales: Delivers good Goldschmidt impression Monday

Rosales started at first base and went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs in Monday's 13-0 win over the Dodgers.

With a career .369 slugging percentage, Rosales certainly doesn't possess the kind of power most teams value from their first basemen, but for at least one day, he proved to be an adequate replacement for Paul Goldschmidt. Goldschmidt returned to Arizona to undergo an MRI on his right elbow. The Diamondbacks aren't expected to have a clear idea on the extent of Goldschmidt's injury until the results of the MRI are made available Tuesday, but if the All-Star ends up missing further time, Rosales would be among the top candidates to pick up extra at-bats. Along with Rosales, Daniel Descalso, Kris Negron and Chris Herrmann could also see time at first base.

  • Diamondbacks' Adam Rosales: Homers in victory Wednesday

Rosales went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Dodgers.

Jake Lamb received the day off with a left-handed pitcher (Hyun-Jin Ryu) on the mound for the Dodgers, so Rosales took his spot at third base and slotted second in the lineup. Rosales came through with just his sixth home run of the season, but it came with some controversy after the deep drive to the center-field wall was initially ruled a triple before umpires determined through video review that the ball had caromed off the wall just above the home-run line. Since Lamb will continue to see the bulk of the starts at third base until Ketel Marte (hamstring) is healthy again after a two-game absence, Rosales will probably only see a handful of starts the rest of the way as the Diamondbacks aim to solidify a wild-card berth.
