Shane Robinson: Ends playing career
The Padres announced Tuesday that Robinson has been named the bench coach for Double-A San Antonio for the 2022 season, signaling the end of his playing career.
Robinson hasn't played in affiliated ball since 2019, but he was still active player in the Mexican League as of 2021. With a return to MLB looking increasingly unlikely for the outfielder heading into his age-37 season, he'll make the jump to the coaching ranks. Robinson appeared in parts of nine seasons in the majors from 2009 through 2018 with the Cardinals, Twins, Angels and Yankees, slashing a collective .221/.288/.292 with seven home runs and 19 stolen bases in 849 plate appearances. He won his lone World Series ring in 2011 with the Cardinals.

Yankees' Shane Robinson: Outrighted to Triple-A
Robinson was outrighted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday.
Robinson was removed from the 40-man roster after the Yankees traded for Andrew McCutchen on Friday. Unsurprisingly, a 33-year-old who's topped the Mendoza line just once since 2013 didn't make for an appealing waiver claim, so he'll head back to the minors.

Yankees' Shane Robinson: Designated for assignment
Robinson was designated for assignment by the Yankees on Saturday, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic New York reports.
The Yankees deemed Robinson expendable following the acquisition of Andrew McCutchen, casting him off their 40-man roster in order to free up a spot for Stephen Tarpley, who was called up in a corresponding roster move. The 33-year-old hit just .143/.208/.224 across 25 games with the Yankees this season. He'll likely report to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre if he passes through waivers untouched.

Yankees' Shane Robinson: Swats first homer
Robinson got the start in left field and hit ninth in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Royals, going 1-for-2 with a solo home run.
The blast was his first in the majors since 2016. With Aaron Judge (wrist) out for a few weeks and Clint Frazier (concussion) not yet ready to return, there's a small window for Robinson to receive at least semi-regular playing time for the Yankees, although the front office could just as easily add more outfield depth before the trade deadline.

Yankees' Shane Robinson: Joins Yankees on Thursday
Robinson was called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre prior to Thursday's game against Kansas City, Brendan Kuty of NJ.com reports.
Robinson's stay in the big leagues is likely going to be a brief one until the recently acquired J.A. Happ arrives from Toronto. That said, this move placed Robinson on the 40-man roster for the first time since he was DFA'd by the Yankees in April. Across 48 games with the RailRiders this year, he's hit .253 with a .614 OPS.

Yankees' Shane Robinson: Outrighted to Triple-A
Robinson was outrighted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.
Robinson was designated for assignment by the Yankees last Thursday, as the team has plenty of outfield depth even with Jacoby Ellsbury (oblique) and Clint Frazier (concussion) currently residing on the disabled list. After clearing waivers, Robinson will now serve as organizational depth in the minors, as opposed to electing free agency.

Yankees' Shane Robinson: DFA'd by Yankees
Robinson was designated for assignment Thursday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
Robinson came up from the minors Tuesday, but he'll be removed from the roster in order to allow Aaron Hicks to return from the disabled list. The 33-year-old went 1-for-3 with a walk in his lone start for New York, though he also added another walk and a stolen base off the bench in Wednesday's contest. He'll likely continue being an organizational depth piece if he clears waivers.

Yankees' Shane Robinson: Promoted to majors, starting Tuesday
Robinson had has contract purchased from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday. He is starting in center field and hitting ninth against the Red Sox.
Robinson will take the roster spot of Jace Peterson, who was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. The 33-year-old should serve as a right-handed-hitting outfield option as the Yankees face a pair of difficult lefties (Chris Sale and David Price) over the next two games. Robinson likely won't stick with the Yankees for long, however, as Aaron Hicks (ribs) is nearing a return from the disabled list and would presumably take his roster spot once activated.

Yankees' Shane Robinson: Invited to Yankees camp
Robinson signed a minor-league contract with the Yankees on Wednesday which includes an invitation to spring training, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
As has been the case throughout his career, Robinson excelled at Triple-A but struggled during his time in the majors in 2017. While he hit a respectable .318/.370/.425 across 86 games with Triple-A Salt Lake, he turned in a brutal .194/.257/.194 slash-line in 35 plate appearances for the big club. The 33-year-old owns a .226/.294/.297 career line across eight big-league seasons. Given the amount of quality outfield options the Yankees already have on their 40-man roster, Robinson should spend the year in the minors as organizational depth.

Shane Robinson: Elects free agency
Robinson elected free agency Friday, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
Robinson took part in just 20 games with the Angels during the 2017 campaign. In 35 plate appearances, he batted .194 with six hits and an RBI. The 33-year-old will look to latch on elsewhere as a depth option in the outfield prior to next season, though he's unlikely to become a significant fantasy contributor.

Angels' Shane Robinson: Recalled from Salt Lake
Robinson was promoted by the Angels on Friday, Pedro Moura of The Los Angeles Times reports.
Robinson has appeared in 14 games with the Angels this season, going 5-for-25 (.200 average) with one RBI and six runs during his brief time in the majors. After being DFA'd by the club in early August, he's slashed .256/.276/.390 with Triple-A Salt Lake since. Moving forward, he will serve as added depth in the outfield, but doesn't figure to provide any substantial fantasy impact throughout the rest of the year.

Angels' Shane Robinson: DFA'd Monday
Robinson was designated for assignment by the Angels on Monday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
This marks the second time this season Robinson has been DFA'd to clear room on the roster for Cameron Maybin's (knee) return from the disabled list. Assuming he clears waivers again, Robinson will likely report back to Triple-A Salt Lakem where he'll continue to serve as organizational depth.

Angels' Shane Robinson: Starts in left Saturday
Robinson went 1-for-2 with a run scored in Saturday's win over the Blue Jays.
The veteran outfielder has received two starts in as many days with the Angels taking on a left-hander in back-to-back games. Robinson has been on the short side of a platoon with Ben Revere ever since Cameron Maybin (knee) was placed on the disabled list. He should continue to see action against southpaws in the near future, but Revere is the outfielder who will provide the most value until Maybin returns.

Angels' Shane Robinson: Called up Wednesday
Robinson was promoted by the Angels on Wednesday, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
With Cameron Maybin (knee) set to head to the disabled list, Robinson was called up to take his place on the roster. The outfielder could see some time in the lineup, especially with the Angels set to face southpaws Gio Gonzalez, Chris Sale and David Price over the next four days.

Angels' Shane Robinson: Clears waivers Monday
Robinson cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday.
Robinson was designated for assignment, and his relative lack of success in the big leagues over the past few years left other teams disinterested in his services while he was exposed to waivers. He'll return to Triple-A to continue acting as organizational depth.
