Red Sox's Dan Runzler: Latches on with Red Sox
Runzler agreed to a minor-league deal with Boston on Friday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Runzler appeared in eight games out of the bullpen for the Pirates in 2017, allowing two runs on seven hits while fanning four over four innings. While he's spent the majority of his time in the minors of late, his major-league experience is certainly a perk for the Red Sox. Runzler will likely serve as organizational depth at Triple-A Pawtucket to start the 2019 campaign.

Dan Runzler: Cut loose by Tampa Bay
The Rays released Runzler on Sunday.
Runzler delivered scoreless outings in four of his five Grapefruit League appearances with the Rays, but with an Opening Day bullpen spot not in the offing, the left-hander likely requested to be let go. The 32-year-old, who split his 2017 campaign between the Pirates and their Triple-A affiliate at Indianapolis, will look to find work elsewhere with a team in need of a lefty reliever.

Rays' Dan Runzler: Signs minor-league deal with Rays
Runzler signed a minor-league contract with the Rays which includes an invitation to spring training, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Runzler made eight appearances for the Pirates last year, striking out four batters and allowing two home runs over the course of four innings. It was his first major-league action since 2012. He's spent the majority of the past five seasons pitching in Triple-A, where he's had an xFIP north of 4.20 in each season. The veteran left-hander will look to earn a spot in the Rays' bullpen but doesn't look to be a favorite to secure a roster spot.

Dan Runzler: Elects free agency
Runzler cleared waivers and elected to become a free agent Monday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
The 32-year-old southpaw decided to refuse his outright assignment to Triple-A Indianapolis, making him eligible to sign anywhere he pleases. Runzler made his first major-league appearance since 2012 last season, compiling a 4.50 ERA and 4:2 K:BB across four innings with the Pirates. At this point in his career, Runzler doesn't figure to serve as anything more than organizational depth.

Pirates' Dan Runzler: Headed to majors
Runzler's contract was purchased from Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday.
Runzler had a solid season with Indianapolis, as he built a 3.05 ERA and 1.57 WHIP over 40 games (41.1 innings). The 32-year-old has some MLB experience but last appeared in the show in 2012 while on the Giants. He'll likely be used by Pittsburgh in low-leverage situations.

Pirates' Dan Runzler: Sent to minors camp
Runzler was reassigned to minor league camp Thursday.
Runzler owns a career 3.86 ERA in 72.1 innings, all with the Giants, but hasn't pitched in the majors since 2012. At least for the moment, the 31-year-old organizational depth reliever won't change that.

Runzler signed a minor league contract with the Pirates on Wednesday that includes an invite to spring training, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Stephen Nesbitt reports.
The 31-year-old southpaw will have a chance at earning a spot in the Pirates' bullpen as a low-leverage specialist. Of course, the most likely scenario is that he offers depth at Triple-A.

Twins' Dan Runzler: On DL with strained groin
Runzler was placed on the 7-day DL at Triple-A Rochester with a strained right oblique.
Runzler had a 3.93 ERA at Triple-A but a troubling 11 walks in 18 innings. He could still get a shot at the majors as a lefty specialist at some point this summer given the turnover in the Minnesota bullpen.

Twins' Dan Runzler: Assigned to minor league camp
Runzler was assigned to Minnesota's minor league camp.
Runzler gave up two runs in nine innings this spring, but only struck out three. The Twins don't have a proven lefty setup reliever in the bullpen, so he could get a shot in the majors at some point this summer if he pitches well in Triple-A.

Twins' Dan Runzler: In mix for bullpen spot
Runzler remains in the mix to win a lefty specialist bullpen role, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. He has a 2.25 ERA in eight innings this spring, but just two strikeouts. "He's come in here and has done a decent job, so it is encouraging," Twins General Manager Terry Ryan told the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "He's given us something to think about."
Runzler spent 2015 in the Diamondbacks' organization with their Triple-A affiliate, posting a 5.26 ERA and 2.04 WHIP. The 30-year-old hasn't appeared in the majors since 2012, but the Twins are short on left-handed relief options. He's competing with lefty Fernando Abad for a spot in the bullpen after lefty Taylor Rogers was sent to Triple-A.

Twins' Dan Runzler: Signs minor league contract with Twins
Runzler was signed by the Twins to a minor league contract Tuesday.
Runzler spent 2015 in the Giants' organization with their Triple-A affiliate, posting a 5.26 ERA and 2.04 WHIP. The 30-year-old hasn't appeared in the majors since 2012, but the Twins are a bit thin in the left-handed pitching department. Runzler past performance isn't all that promising, but if he can turn his numbers around in spring training, he could compete to be a member of the Twins' bullpen.
