Noesi signed with the Fubon Guardians of the Chinese Professional Baseball League on Thursday.
Noesi opted out of the 2020 major-league season, meaning the last time he threw in game action was with the Marlins in 2019. He spent the majority of that campaign in the minor leagues and will now occupy a bullpen role for Fubon.
Manager Derek Shelton said Wednesday that Noesi has opted out of the 2020 season due to family reasons, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports.
The right-hander struggled over 27.2 innings in Miami last season with an 8.46 ERA, but he nonetheless earned a spot in Pittsburgh's 60-man player pool. Noesi will instead sit out the 2020 campaign for the benefit of his family.
