Hector Noesi: Signs in Taiwan
Noesi signed with the Fubon Guardians of the Chinese Professional Baseball League on Thursday.
Noesi opted out of the 2020 major-league season, meaning the last time he threw in game action was with the Marlins in 2019. He spent the majority of that campaign in the minor leagues and will now occupy a bullpen role for Fubon.

Pirates' Hector Noesi: Opts out of 2020 season
Manager Derek Shelton said Wednesday that Noesi has opted out of the 2020 season due to family reasons, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports.
The right-hander struggled over 27.2 innings in Miami last season with an 8.46 ERA, but he nonetheless earned a spot in Pittsburgh's 60-man player pool. Noesi will instead sit out the 2020 campaign for the benefit of his family.

Pirates' Hector Noesi: Added to team pool
Noesi has been included as part of Pittsburgh's 60-man player pool.
The righty struggled with Miami last season, registering an 8.46 ERA in 27.2 innings. Noesi will provide depth out of the bullpen if he makes the team. The 33-year-old has never shown the ability to retire major-league hitters consistently since coming up as a Yankees prospect a decade ago.

Pirates' Hector Noesi: Signs minors deal with Pirates
Noesi and the Pirates agreed to a minor-league deal Tuesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
The 32-year-old threw 27.2 innings for the Marlins last year without much success, finishing with an 8.46 ERA and a 6.39 FIP. In 423 career innings at the highest level, he owns an unimpressive 5.51 ERA.

Noesi struggled in his 12 major-league appearances (four starts) this season, recording a 1.59 WHIP and 8.46 ERA in 27.2 innings pitched. The 32-year-old will now return to the minors, where he posted a 3.82 ERA and a 133:30 K:BB in 125 innings pitched at the Triple-A level in 2019.

Marlins' Hector Noesi: Shifts to relief
Noesi worked in relief in Tuesday's 8-5 loss to the Reds, giving up on run on three hits and a walk while striking out three in two innings.
Noesi made his first four appearances with the Marlins as a starter before losing his spot in the rotation when Pablo Lopez was reinstated from the injured list ahead of Monday's series opener. Though his last start had come just three days earlier, Noesi only tossed 81 pitches in that contest, which made skipper Don Mattingly comfortable enough with making the righty available in long relief. Unless the Marlins decide to expand their rotation to six men in September, Noesi is likely to see most of his opportunities as a mop-up man out of the bullpen the rest of the season.

Marlins' Hector Noesi: Knocked around by Phillies
Noesi surrendered seven runs on six hits and three walks while striking out two over three innings Friday night against Philadelphia. He didn't factor into the decision.
Noesi got off to a poor start in this one, yielding four runs in the first inning, followed by two runs in the second and one in the third. Luckily, his team would answer with seven runs in the third inning, and the Marlins would ultimately emerge with a 19-11 victory. The 32-year-old now owns an 11.29 ERA and 1.75 WHIP with 15 strikeouts over 18.1 innings this season with Miami.

Marlins' Hector Noesi: Allows six runs in loss
Noesi (0-3) allowed six runs off five hits and three walks while recording two strikeouts over 4.1 innings as he was charged with the loss Saturday against the Rockies.
The 32-year-old struggled to limit run production once again as his ERA rose to 9.39 in his third major-league start of the season. Pablo Lopez (shoulder) will require another rehab start before returning to the Marlins, but it still wouldn't be surprising to see Noesi sent back down to Triple-A after struggling in three consecutive starts. If Noesi receives another turn in the rotation, it would likely come at home Friday against the Phillies.

Marlins' Hector Noesi: Gives up five runs in loss
Noesi (0-2) gave up five runs on four hits and three walks while striking out eight through six innings to take the loss against the Braves on Sunday.
Noesi tied a career high with eight strikeouts, but he also allowed two home runs in his longest outing of the season. The 32-year-old has an 8.18 ERA and an 11:6 K:BB through two starts this season. There is a chance that Noesi could be sent back down to Triple-A with Pablo Lopez nearing a return.

Marlins' Hector Noesi: Gets another start
Noesi is listed as the Marlins' scheduled starter for Sunday's game against the Braves.
Noesi was called up from Triple-A New Orleans on Tuesday and made his first big-league start since 2015, giving up five runs on five hits and three walks over five innings in a loss to the Mets. The outing didn't inspire much confidence about Noesi's prospects moving forward, but the Marlins need somebody to fill a spot in the rotation for at least one more turn while Pablo Lopez (shoulder) remains on a rehab assignment. Noesi could be headed back to the minors after Sunday's outing regardless of how he performs in the outing.

Marlins' Hector Noesi: Mauled by Mets
Noesi (0-1) took the loss Tuesday, getting tagged for five runs on five hits and three walks over five innings while striking out three as the Marlins fell 5-0 to the Mets.
The 32-year-old journeyman's first big-league appearance since 2015 went about as well as expected, with Pete Alonso and Wilson Ramos both taking Noesi deep. It's not yet clear whether the right-hander will see another turn through the Miami rotation, but his performance Tuesday didn't make a strong case for Noesi to stick around.

Marlins' Hector Noesi: On track to join Miami's rotation
Noesi joined the Marlins on Monday as a member of the taxi squad and is expected to enter the big-league rotation later in the week, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
McPherson notes that Noesi was informed he would become the Marlins' new fifth starter after turning in a 3.82 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 133:30 K:BB across 125 frames with Triple-A New Orleans this season. Due to a doubleheader Monday against the Mets, the Marlins will temporarily require six starters, but Noesi looks on track to stick with the big club rather than Robert Dugger, who was recalled from Triple-A to serve as the 26th man and start the first game of the twin bill. Noesi will likely be formally added to the 40-man and active roster Wednesday, when he'll likely be called on to start the series finale in New York.

The soon-to-be 32-year-old went 46-20 with a 3.79 ERA across 90 games with the Tigers. Noesi, who owns a career 5.30 ERA and 6.4 K/9 across parts of five big-league seasons (395.1 innings), should compete for a rotation spot in spring training.
