  • Giants' Matt Reynolds: Re-ups with San Francisco on minor-league deal

Reynolds re-signed Sunday with the Giants on a minor-league contract, Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports.

The Giants had designated Reynolds for assignment near the end of last season, but he'll stick with the organization and get an opportunity to compete for an Opening Day roster spot, as his minor-league deal will include an invitation to spring training. The 32-year-old lefty made only eight appearances for the big club last season, put tossed 18.2 scoreless innings across stints at Double-A and Triple-A.

  • Giants' Matt Reynolds: Designated for assignment

Reynolds was designated for assignment by the Giants on Tuesday, Amy Gutierrez of CSN Bay Area reports.

The Giants needed to add depth at other positions and Reynolds was a roster casualty. The 31-year-old lefty allowed just one run in his first six appearances with San Francisco but was then knocked around for four runs in his last appearance, while failing to record an out. He will now be subjected to waivers.

  • Giants' Matt Reynolds: Recalled from Salt Lake

Reynolds was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The 31-year-old has fared well this season at Double and Triple-A, amassing a cumulative 0.89 ERA across 40.2 innings. While his track record in the majors isn't quite as impressive, Reynolds will provide bullpen depth down the stretch as the Giants attempt to grab hold of a playoff spot.

  • Giants' Matt Reynolds: Optioned to Triple-A

Reynolds was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.

The move was made to make room to clear spots for newly acquired Will Smith and Matt Moore. This season between Double-A and Triple-A, Reynolds owns a 0.00 ERA with 14 strikeouts in 10.1 innings. The 31-year-old could help the Giants bullpen when rosters expand in September.

  • Giants' Matt Reynolds: Contract selected by Giants

Reynolds' contract was selected by the Giants on Thursday.

The former Arizona reliever has been working in the Giants' farm system this season and he has dominated the competition at each stop. He didn't allow a run in 10.1 innings of work across Double-A and Triple-A and he notched an astronomical 12.35 K/9 at Triple-A. He'll take the roster spot of Josh Osich, who was used as a lefty specialist out of the Giants' pen before going down with a forearm strain.
