  • AJ Pollock: Rejoins Mariners as coach

Pollock has rejoined the Mariners in a coaching role, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports. While Pollock has not officially announced his retirement from professional baseball, it would appear his playing career is over. The 36-year-old had a rough finish to his 12-year career but still concluded with a 111 OPS+, 145 home runs and 122 stolen bases. He made the All-Star team and won a Gold Glove in 2015.

  • AJ Pollock: Cut loose by Giants

The Giants activated Pollock (oblique) from the 10-day injured list and released him Monday, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports. After being acquired from the Mariners on July 31, Pollock went 0-for-6 over two games with the Giants before landing on the IL with a left oblique strain. He was cleared to begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Sacramento this weekend and seems to be back to full health, but the Giants didn't have room for him on the 28-man active roster and will now part ways with the veteran outfielder. Pollock has endured a rough 2023 campaign between his stops with Seattle and San Francisco, slashing .165/.215/.308 with five home runs, 15 RBI and 15 runs scored in 144 plate appearances.

  • Giants' AJ Pollock: Rehab assignment Friday

Pollock (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Pollock has been out since Aug. 9 and was originally expected to miss three weeks. He'll be sidelined a bit beyond that timeline, though he should return at some point in early September assuming his rehab goes smoothly from this point.

  • Giants' AJ Pollock: Could soon begin rehab assignment

Pollock (oblique) could begin a rehab assignment soon, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Pollock has been cleared to take part in all baseball activities, and it may not be long before he's given the green light to resume playing in games. The Giants placed Pollock on the 10-day injured list Aug. 9 with a left oblique strain, an injury that had been expected to keep him out for about three weeks.

  • Giants' AJ Pollock: Ready for light activities

Pollock (oblique) "is starting light baseball activities this week," Danny Emerman of KNBR 680 San Francisco reports. Pollock is nearly two weeks into an expected three-week recovery timeline, and it appears things are progressing in the right direction.

  • Giants' AJ Pollock: Out three weeks

Pollock is expected to be out for three weeks due to his left oblique strain, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. Pollock is slashing .165/.215/.308 through 144 plate appearances on the season, so the Giants won't be losing much production at the plate, but their depth will take a hit through the end of August. Heliot Ramos was brought up from Triple-A to temporarily fill Pollock's spot on the roster but likely won't be used often off the bench.

  • Giants' AJ Pollock: Lands on IL with oblique strain

San Francisco placed Pollock on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left oblique strain, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. Pollock made an early exit from Tuesday night's loss to the Angels after experiencing discomfort along his left side, and the issue has since been diagnosed as an oblique strain. He's gone hitless in five games (six plate appearances) since joining the Giants via trade in late July and will likely now be on the shelf for at least a couple of weeks. Heliot Ramos is getting the call in a corresponding roster move.

  • Giants' AJ Pollock: Out with side discomfort

Pollock (side) is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Angels. Pollock was removed from Tuesday night's game at Angel Stadium due to left side discomfort and it's unclear whether he'll be available at all in Wednesday's series finale. Joc Pederson, Luis Matos and Michael Conforto are starting across the outfield and LaMonte Wade is serving as the Giants' designated hitter.

  • Giants' AJ Pollock: Exits early

Pollock was removed from Tuesday's game against the Angels due to left side discomfort, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. There is no word yet on how severe Pollock's injury may be, but the Giants should provide more information following Tuesday's game. The veteran outfielder has gone hitless in four games with the Giants and holds a mere .524 OPS on the season.

  • Giants' AJ Pollock: Hitless in San Francisco debut

Pollock went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Diamondbacks. Pollock had a minimal stay on the injured list with a hamstring strain, allowing him to promptly make his Giants debut after he was traded from the Mariners on Monday. The outfielder was batting just .173 over 49 contests with Seattle, and his Giants career is off to a humble start. Given manager Gabe Kapler's preferences for platoons, the righty-hitting Pollock shouldn't be expected to start very often against right-handed pitchers.

  • Giants' AJ Pollock: Reinstated from IL

The Giants reinstated Pollock (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday. Pollock landed on the injured list July 22 with a strained left hamstring and has now been activated ahead of his Giants debut. The 35-year-old outfielder is slashing .173/.225/.323 through 138 plate appearances on the season and will start in left field Tuesday. Marco Luciano was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move.

  • Giants' AJ Pollock: Dealt to Giants

Pollock (hamstring) was traded from the Mariners to the Giants on Monday along with infielder Mark Mathias and cash in exchange for a player to be named later, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Presumably, the caliber of prospect the Mariners get back will depend on how much of Pollock's remaining money they are willing to cover in the deal. The 35-year-old outfielder/designated hitter is due back soon from the 10-day injured list and slashed .173/.225/.323 with five home runs in 138 plate appearances for Seattle. He signed a one-year, $7 million deal with the Mariners over the winter.

  • Mariners' AJ Pollock: On track for minimum IL stay

Pollock (hamstring) has been taking batting practice over the past several days and remains on target for a return from the injured list when first eligible Tuesday, the team's official site reports. Pollock began taking batting practice Tuesday and hasn't experienced any reported setbacks, keeping him on track to garner active status early in the week. The veteran outfielder's quick progress isn't surprising considering his recovery was initially estimated to take five days at most. Pollock had shown some signs of life at the plate before being sidelined, going 5-for-17 with a double, a home run, two RBI and two runs across the five July games he saw action in.

  • Mariners' AJ Pollock: Heads to IL with hamstring strain

Pollock was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a left hamstring strain, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports. Pollock suffered the injury during Friday's win over the Blue Jays. It's another blow to the Mariners' outfield depth with Jarred Kelenic (foot) also out, although Pollock hasn't played well at all.

  • Mariners' AJ Pollock: Dealing with hamstring issue

Pollock exited Friday's game against the Blue Jays with a hamstring injury, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports. Pollock went 1-for-3 with a double prior to his exit. He'll be re-evaluated Saturday, at which point it should become clear whether he needs a trip to the injured list. The 35-year-old doesn't have a strong track record and has hit .173/.225/.323 in 49 games this season, both of which may make the Mariners more likely to choose to sit him for 10 days.

  • Mariners' AJ Pollock: Snaps out of slump

Pollock went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 6-0 win over San Francisco. After going hitless in each of his last eight games (12 at-bats) Pollock collected a pair of hits, including a two-run homer off Jakob Junis in the eighth. The long ball marked his fifth of the campaign and snapped a dry spell of 25 games dating back to May 3. Though Pollock is still only slashing .167/.224/.325 through 125 plate appearances, Tuesday's outburst could be a sign of better things to come from the veteran outfielder.

  • Mariners' AJ Pollock: Rare multi-hit effort Saturday

Pollock went 2-for-4 with a run in a win over the Angels on Saturday. He was also caught stealing on his only attempt. Pollock produced his fifth multi-hit tally of the season as part of Seattle's 16-hit outburst. Saturday marked Pollock's third start in the nine games the Mariners have played since his May 31 return from a leg injury, as his career-worst .173 average and .566 OPS make it difficult for manager Scott Servais to give him regular run in left field or at designated hitter.

  • Mariners' AJ Pollock: Draws walk in return

Pollock (leg) started in left field during the Mariners' loss to the Yankees on Tuesday and went 0-for-2 with a walk. Pollock had missed the previous five games after injuring his leg on a steal attempt last Wednesday against Oakland. The veteran's quiet night at the plate lowered his season slash line to an anemic .163/.237/.337 across 97 plate appearances, but Pollock does have three doubles and four home runs among his 14 hits thus far.

  • Mariners' AJ Pollock: Returns to lineup

Pollock (leg) is starting in left field and batting fifth Tuesday against the Yankees. Pollock missed five games after tweaking his leg during a steal attempt Wednesday against the A's. Now healthy, he'll look to build on his 2-for-3 performance from his last game.

  • Mariners' AJ Pollock: Remains on bench

Pollock (leg) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates. Pollock hasn't appeared in a game since Wednesday, when he tweaked his leg while attempting to a steal a base in a 6-1 win over the Athletics. He'll now be on the bench for a fourth consecutive contest, though the Mariners have faced right-handed starting pitchers in each of their three games with Pittsburgh. The righty-hitting Pollock has been filling a short-side platoon role of late, so he may not have started against Pittsburgh even if he was 100 percent healthy.
