Thompson went 2-for-4 with a double and a two-run homer in Wednesday's 5-4 victory over the Mariners.
Thompson extended Chicago's lead to 3-0 in the sixth inning with a two-run blast off George Kirby. It was Thompson's first homer in 11 games with the White Sox and his sixth of the season. Since returning from a two-month IL stint Aug. 3, he's gone 6-for-27 (.222) while serving on the short side of a platoon with Oscar Colas. Overall, the 32-year-old Thompson's batting just .173 with 16 RBI, 16 runs scored and a .675 OPS across 98 plate appearances between the White Sox and Dodgers this year.

The White Sox activated Thompson (oblique) from the 60-day injured list Thursday.
Recovered from the severe oblique strain that sent him to the IL in early June, Thompson will start in center field and bat sixth for the White Sox on Thursday afternoon against the Rangers. He was acquired from the Dodgers last Friday as part of the Lance Lynn and Joe Kelly trade.

The Dodgers traded Thompson (oblique), Nick Nastrini and Jordan Leasure to the White Sox on Friday in exchange for Lance Lynn and Joe Kelly, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Thompson is currently on the 60-day injured list with an oblique strain, but he began a minor-league rehab assignment last week and could soon be in the outfield mix for Chicago. The 32-year-old was originally drafted by the White Sox back in 2009 and holds a career .216/.304/.428 slash line.
