Ruf was placed on the 10-day IL on Saturday after he was revealed to be dealing with only the deep laceration, but the fractured kneecap explains why the Brewers wasted little time in shifting him to the 60-day IL. Though he's expected to avoid surgery since the fracture is non-displaced, Ruf is still projected to require 6-to-8 weeks of recovery time. He suffered the injury last Friday when he collided with the tarp while chasing after a pop-up.

Ruf landed on the 10-day IL last week due to inflammation in his right wrist, and he appears to be in line for close to a minimum stay. The 36-year-old veteran is slashing .261/.370/.348 in 27 plate appearances since being selected to the major-league squad in the middle of April.
Ruf was placed on the 10-day injured list with right wrist inflammation by the Giants on Monday.
Ruf will miss at least a week-plus while he recovers. Austin Slater (hamstring) is reinstated off the injured list in a corresponding transaction, and it's likely that Slater will see his reps against left-handed pitching while Ruf is out of action.
The Giants purchased the contract of Ruf from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.
