  • Blue Jays' Kevin Gausman: Loses steam late in defeat

Gausman (2-2) took the loss against Minnesota on Thursday, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks while striking out two batters over 5.2 innings.

Gausman began the game with three scoreless frames, during which he retired nine of the 10 batters he faced. However, he then allowed a two-run homer in the fourth inning. After tossing a perfect fifth, Gausman gave up a pair of runs on a solo homer, a walk and a single in the sixth before being pulled with two outs. That snapped the veteran hurler's string of two straight quality starts, and the defeat also ended a stretch of two consecutive victories. Gausman gave up four runs in an outing for the first time this season Thursday, but he still holds strong season stats with a 3.10 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 40:8 K:BB through 40.2 frames.

  • Blue Jays' Kevin Gausman: Snags second win

Gausman (2-1) picked up the win Saturday, allowing two runs on six hits over 6.2 innings in a 5-3 victory over the Guardians. He struck out three without walking a batter.

The veteran righty tossed 63 of 91 pitches for strikes en route to his fourth quality start of the season in six trips to the mound. Gausman's three Ks were a season low, however, and after racking up a stunning 21:0 K:BB through his first two starts, he's managed just a 17:7 K:BB in 23 frames over his last four. He's been effective either way and will take a 2.57 ERA and 0.94 WHIP into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Minnesota.

  • Blue Jays' Kevin Gausman: Steady in first win

Gausman (1-1) allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out four over six innings to earn the win Sunday against the Diamondbacks.

Gausman had an eight-run lead before he ever threw a pitch in this contest, and that gave him plenty of breathing room. He allowed a single run in each of the second and sixth innings, coming away with a quality start while throwing 54 of 86 pitches for strikes. Gausman has struggled to get decisions early in 2026, but he's thrown three quality starts in five outings, pitching to a 2.54 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 35:6 K:BB over 28.1 innings. His next start is projected to be at home versus the Guardians.

  • Blue Jays' Kevin Gausman: No-decision vs. Milwaukee

Gausman did not factor into Tuesday's extra-inning win against the Brewers. He allowed three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out five across five innings.

All of the runs Gausman gave up came on a three-run homer from Jake Bauers in the third frame. However, the Blue Jays generated enough offense for Gausman to avoid the loss, with the veteran right-hander finishing his night with 15 whiffs while tallying 62 strikes on 97 pitches (63.9 percent). He is winless through four starts but has not yielded more than three earned runs in any of his outings this season, and his 31 strikeouts (across 22.1 innings) are tied with Jose Soriano for most in the American League this season. Gausman is slated to pitch this weekend on the road against the Diamondbacks.

  • Blue Jays' Kevin Gausman: Takes first loss of 2026

Gausman (0-1) took the loss against the Dodgers on Tuesday, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five across 5.1 innings.

Gausman wasn't as sharp Tuesday as he was in his first two starts of the season, as he struck out 21 batters across his first 12 innings this season, yielding just one run and zero walks. He was pulled in the sixth Tuesday after giving up two singles in the inning, ending his quality start streak at two games, though he was limited to three earned runs on the day after Mason Fluharty stranded the pair of runners. Gausman has posted a 2.08 ERA and 0.58 WHIP across 17.1 innings this season, and he'll look for his first win of 2026 in his next start, which is tentatively slated for next week on the road against the Brewers.

  • Blue Jays' Kevin Gausman: Fans 10 in no-decision

Gausman didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against Colorado. He tossed six scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out 10.

Gausman enjoyed an impressive 2026 debut after striking out 11 across six innings in a no-decision against the A's on Friday, and he built off that performance to record double-digit strikeouts for the second game in a row. Few pitchers in the majors have looked as dominant as Gausman over the first two outings of the season; however, the star right-hander will have a tougher assignment the next time he steps on the mound, as he's tentatively scheduled to make his next start next week at home against the Dodgers.

  • Blue Jays' Kevin Gausman: Outstanding in 2026 debut

Gausman did not factor into the decision in the Blue Jays' 3-2 win over the Athletics on Friday. He allowed one run on one hit while striking out 11 across six innings without issuing a walk.

Gausman was dominant right out of the gate, striking out the side in the first inning and punching out seven of the first 10 batters he faced. His lone blemish came in the fourth inning, when he gave up a solo home run to Shea Langeliers, but the veteran right-hander struck out four more batters and finished Friday's game with 17 whiffs on 83 pitches (60 strikes) while setting a new franchise record for strikeouts on Opening Day. Gausman was in line for the win after the Blue Jays took a 2-1 lead in the fifth, but he had to settle for the no-decision after Jeff Hoffman yielded a solo shot to Langeliers in the ninth. Gausman will look for his first win of 2026 in his next start, tentatively slated for next week at home against the Rockies.

  • Blue Jays' Kevin Gausman: Named Opening Day starter

The Blue Jays announced Saturday that Gausman will be the team's Opening Day starter March 27 against the Athletics in Toronto.

The announcement doesn't come as much of a surprise, considering Gausman has been the Blue Jays' ace since joining the franchise in 2022. He's coming off a 2025 campaign in which he pitched a career-high 193 innings during the regular season (32 starts) with a 3.59 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 189:50 K:BB. Gausman will lead a Blue Jays rotation that also features Dylan Cease, Shane Bieber (forearm) and Trey Yesavage.

  • Blue Jays' Kevin Gausman: Strong start to camp

Gausman gave up three hits over 3.1 scoreless innings in Sunday's split-squad game against the Tigers. He struck out three without walking a batter.

The veteran right-hander hasn't given up a run in his first two Grapefruit League starts, posting a 6:1 K:BB over 4.1 frames. Gausman built up to 52 pitches (34 strikes) on Sunday, and while the Blue Jays haven't made an official announcement, he remains to favorite to take the mound Opening Day against the A's.
