  • Cubs' Kevin Gausman: Traded to Cubs

Gausman was traded from the Blue Jays to the Cubs on Sunday night in exchange for minor-league infielder Ty Southisene and outfielder Brett Bateman, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

Gausman will head west to join the Cubs after posting a 4.38 ERA and 1.29 WHIP with 127 punchouts over 127.1 innings in 23 starts with Toronto this season. The right-hander has allowed three or fewer runs in three of his last four outings, which is a step in the right direction after he compiled an inflated 6.51 ERA over seven starts between June 2 and July 6. Gausman will go from a last-place team in the AL East to a Chicago squad that is 14 games over .500 and four games above the next closest team in the NL wild-card race.

  • Blue Jays' Kevin Gausman: Nabs fifth win Saturday

Gausman (5-10) picked up the win Saturday, allowing one run on nine hits and one walk over 5.2 innings in a 5-1 victory over the Cardinals. He struck out four.

In what could be his final start as a Blue Jay, Gausman blanked the Cards for five frames before running out of steam in the sixth and falling just short of his 12th quality start of the season. It was the veteran righty's best performance since June 30, after he'd stumbled to a 6.10 ERA in 20.2 innings over four outings in July. He also secured his first win since May 22. If he remains with Toronto past the trade deadline, Gausman is set to take the mound on the road next week against the Cubs.

  • Blue Jays' Kevin Gausman: Logs quality start in defeat

Gausman (4-10) took the loss Sunday against the Red Sox, allowing three runs on five hits and a walk across six innings. He struck out six.

While Gausman was stuck with his sixth loss in his last seven starts, it was a step in the right direction for the right-hander, as he gave up five runs (four earned) across just 3.1 innings in his last outing against Tampa Bay. Overall, Gausman sports a 4.51 ERA with a 1.27 WHIP and 123:35 K:BB across 22 starts (121.2 innings) this season. He'll look to get into the win column for the first time since May 22 in his next outing, tentatively scheduled to come next weekend at home against the Cardinals.

  • Blue Jays' Kevin Gausman: Hit around in loss

Gausman (4-9) took the loss against the Rays on Tuesday, allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits and two walks with one strikeout over 3.1 innings.

Gausman allowed three runs in the first inning and just couldn't put hitters away, generating only five swinging strikes on 90 total pitches. It continued a rough stretch for the veteran, who last won a game May 22 while allowing four earned runs or more in six of his 10 starts since. He owns a 4.51 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 117:34 K:BB across 115.2 innings this season and lines up for a road matchup with the streaking Red Sox this weekend.

  • Blue Jays' Kevin Gausman: Quality start in no-decision

Gausman did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks over six innings in a 5-4 loss to San Diego. He struck out eight.

Gausman ran into trouble during a chaotic three-run second inning, but he was able to settle in and churn out a quality start. Sunday's no-decision snapped a stretch of four consecutive losses charged to the right-hander, with his last win coming May 22. The 35-year-old will take a 4-8 record with a 4.33 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 116:32 K:BB across 112.1 innings (20 starts) into the All-Star break.

  • Blue Jays' Kevin Gausman: Fans eight but takes loss

Gausman (4-8) took the loss against San Francisco on Monday, allowing seven runs (four earned) on five hits and five walks while striking out eight batters over 5.1 innings.

It didn't take long for Gausman to fall behind, as he served up a triple to Heliot Ramos leading off the bottom of the first inning and then watched Ramos cross the plate on an error by Andres Gimenez. The veteran hurler managed to get through five frames with a manageable three runs on his ledger, but things really fell apart for him in the sixth. In that frame, he issued two walks before surrendering two runs on a single, and he was subsequently given the hook. Gausman did rack up 14 whiffs and eight punchouts, but it was otherwise a forgettable performance that included a season-high five free passes. He'll look to bounce back in his next start, which is lined up to be road matchup in San Diego this weekend.

Gausman (4-7) took the loss against the Mets on Tuesday, allowing one run on five hits and two walks with seven strikeouts over six innings.

Gausman suffered his third straight loss despite giving up just one run in the fifth inning. He generated 14 whiffs on 96 pitches but also surrendered 11 hard-hit balls, seven of which resulted in outs. It was still a much-needed rebound for the veteran, who had yielded 13 earned runs over his previous two starts. He'll take a 4.19 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 100:24 K:BB across 101 innings this season into a road matchup with the Giants next week.

  • Blue Jays' Kevin Gausman: Lit up again in sixth loss

Gausman (4-6) took the loss Thursday against the Rangers, allowing six runs on 10 hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out four.

After being torched for seven runs Friday against the Cubs, Gausman struggled on the hill once again Thursday while matching a season worst in hits allowed. The Rangers did most of their damage during a five-run third frame while taking Gausman deep three times on the evening. The 35-year-old right-hander will try to get back on track at home against the Mets next week, now holding a 4.36 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 93:22 K:BB over 95 innings.
