Blue Jays' Luke Bard: Reassigned to minor-league camp
Bard was reassigned to minor-league camp by the Blue Jays on Saturday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Bard was given a chance to win a spot in the Toronto bullpen after signing as a non-roster invitee back in February. The right-hander struggled in his exhibition appearances, however, with a 4.50 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in six innings of work in the Grapefruit League. Assuming he stays on the roster, Bard will head to Triple-A Buffalo to provide organizational pitching depth in 2023.

Bard signed a minor-league contract Saturday with the Blue Jays and has been invited to major-league spring training.
Bard made only nine big-league appearances last season between the Rays and Yankees, though he did record a 1.80 ERA across 15 innings. Staying in the AL East, the 32-year-old right-hander will look to claim a spot in the Jays' Opening Day bullpen.

Luke Bard: Exploring free agency
Bard elected free agency Monday.
Bard will assess his options on the open market before deciding his next step, but if he elects to remain in affiliated ball heading into 2023, he may have to settle for a minor-league deal in free agency. The 31-year-old made nine relief appearances in the majors between the Yankees and Rays in 2022, logging a 1.80 ERA and 0.93 WHIP but an unremarkable 8:7 K:BB in 15 innings.

Yankees' Luke Bard: Dropped from 40-man roster
The Yankees designated Bard for assignment Wednesday.
New York optioned Bard to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre last week, and now he'll lose his spot on the 40-man roster entirely with the Yankees looking to clear a spot for first baseman Ronald Guzman, who is expected to be called up from Triple-A on Wednesday. After joining the organization on a waiver claim Aug. 5, Bard appeared in just one game out of the big-league bullpen before he was sent back to the minors.

The Yankees recalled Bard from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.
He'll join the bullpen as a replacement for Albert Abreu, who was placed on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation. The Rays designated Bard for assignment Monday.
He'll cede his spot on the 40-man roster to lefty reliever Garrett Cleavinger, whom the Rays acquired from the Dodgers on Monday. Rays' Luke Bard: Called up from Durham
Bard was recalled from Triple-A Durham on Thursday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
The right-hander was sent down by Tampa Bay on Tuesday but will rejoin the active roster two days later after Shane Baz (elbow) was placed on the 15-day injured list. Bard has served as a multi-inning relief option for the Rays this year and has posted a 1.00 ERA and 0.78 WHIP in nine innings over five appearances. The right-hander hasn't pitched since Monday, so he could be an option to cover multiple innings Friday against the Orioles since Baz won't be able to make his scheduled start.

Rays' Luke Bard: Heads back to Durham
The Rays optioned Bard to Triple-A Durham on Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
The move is not so much performance related, as Bard held the Red Sox to one run in three innings of relief Monday. Rather, the Rays are presumably just replacing Bard with a fresh arm for the next few days with the All-Star break looming. The 31-year-old could rejoin the big-league roster sometime after the intermission.

Rays' Luke Bard: Returns to big leagues

He'll join the Rays bullpen as a replacement for Phoenix Sanders, who was optioned to Triple-A after he was roughed up for three earned runs across 1.2 innings in relief during Sunday's loss to the Reds. Expect Bard to see most his usage in lower-leverage spots for the duration of his stay in the big leagues.

Rays' Luke Bard: Heads back to minors
The Rays optioned Bard to Triple-A Durham on Monday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Bard finds himself as the odd man out for the Rays, who needed to reduce their pitching staff to the MLB-mandated 13 men prior to Monday's game against the Yankees. Outfielder Josh Lowe was added to the active roster as a replacement for Bard, who struck out five over six scoreless frames across his four relief appearances with Tampa Bay following his June 7 call-up from Triple-A.

Rays' Luke Bard: Called up from minors
The Rays recalled Bard from Triple-A Durham on Tuesday.
He'll join the 26-man active roster as a replacement for fifth starter Ryan Yarbrough, who was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move. The Rays will need to clear room on the roster this weekend in Minnesota, when Shane Baz (elbow) is scheduled to come off the 60-day injured list and take over Yarbrough's rotation spot. As a result, Bard may be around with the big club for just a few days as an additional bullpen arm.

Rays' Luke Bard: Making spring debut
Bard (hip) is scheduled to make his first Grapefruit League appearance Wednesday against the Orioles, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
Bard missed the entire 2021 season after sustaining a hip injury last spring that required surgery, but he looks to be back to full strength after he came to terms with the Rays last week on a minor-league deal. Though he'll be given the chance to compete for a spot in the Rays' Opening Day bullpen over the final days of camp, Bard is likely to begin the season at Triple-A Durham.

Rays' Luke Bard: Joins Rays as non-roster invitee
Bard (hip) signed a minor-league contract with the Rays on Thursday.
The deal includes an invitation to big-league spring training, though Bard likely faces an uphill battle to win a spot in the Rays' Opening Day bullpen. Bard didn't pitch at any level in 2021 after he suffered a hip injury while working out with the Angels last spring before ultimately opting for season-ending surgery in April. The 31-year-old is believed to be fully healthy now, but his late arrival to camp and his modest MLB track record (5.05 ERA in 46 career appearances) means that he's likely bound for Triple-A Durham to begin the season.

Luke Bard: Elects free agency
Bard (hip) has elected free agency, Taylor Blake Ward of HomePlateView.com reports.
Bard was outrighted off the Angels' 40-man roster last week, and he'll now seek out other opportunities ahead of spring training in 2022. The 30-year-old made six relief appearances in the majors during the 2021 campaign and recorded a 6.75 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 5.1 innings.
