  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Taking seat versus southpaw

McMahon is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks. The Diamondbacks are sending southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez to the hill in the matinee, so the left-handed-hitting McMahon will begin the game on the bench. Aaron Schunk is at third base and batting ninth for the Rockies.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Belts 19th homer

McMahon went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 7-4 loss to the Tigers. The Rockies were in a 6-0 hole after the first inning, but McMahon got them on the board in the top of the second by taking Casey Mize deep. McMahon has emerged from his post-All-Star break malaise, and over his last 16 games he's slashing a respectable .262/.328/.426 with three homers, four runs and six RBI. His next long ball will give the 29-year-old his fourth straight 20-homer campaign.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Connects for 18th home run

McMahon went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 5-2 loss against the Brewers. McMahon took Tobias Myers deep in the fourth inning for his 18th homer of the season. McMahon got off to a great start this season but has struggled mightily over the second half. The 29-year-old made his first All-Star game in July but has just four of his 18 homers since the break and is hitting .187/.305/.302 in that stretch.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Out against left-hander

McMahon is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Atlanta. It's lefty Chris Sale on the bump for Atlanta, so it's a good spot for the left-handed hitting McMahon to get a breather. Aaron Schunk will play third base and bat ninth for the Rockies.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Swats decisive homer

McMahon went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 3-2 win against Miami. McMahon had the only extra-base hit by either team in the contest, and it was a big one, as his sixth-inning, 438-foot solo shot broke a 2-2 tie and ended up providing the decisive margin of victory. The long ball snapped a 20-game homerless streak for the infielder, and he had batted a meager .155 with a 31.3 percent strikeout rate during the power drought. McMahon now has 17 home runs overall this season, putting him on pace to reach the 20-homer mark for the fourth consecutive campaign.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Productive close to weekend series

McMahon went 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a walk Sunday against the Yankees. McMahon delivered an RBI double in the fifth inning, snapping a nine-game stretch during which he didn't tally an extra-base hit. While his overall stat line is comparable to past seasons, McMahon has had a disastrous August by hitting .147 with a 31.6 percent strikeout rate across 19 games.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Taking seat Thursday

McMahon is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest against the Nationals. The Nationals are sending southpaw Patrick Corbin to the hill in Thursday's matinee, presenting an opportunity to give the left-handed-hitting McMahon some rest. Aaron Schunk will handle third base for the Rockies.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Hitting bench Wednesday

McMahon is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks. With the Rockies and Diamondbacks concluding their series with a day game after a night game and with a southpaw (Jordan Montgomery) on the hill for Arizona, the lefty-hitting McMahon will be given a breather. McMahon had a pair of two-hit games against Atlanta over the weekend but has fallen back into his post-All-Star-break lull at the plate so far in Arizona, as he went 0-for-8 with four strikeouts through the first two games of the series. He's now batting just .119 with a 32.1 percent strikeout rate in the second half.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Heading to bench Thursday

McMahon is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mets. The Rockies are wrapping up their series with a day game after a night game and are facing off against a lefty (David Peterson), so manager Bud Black likely viewed Thursday's contest as a good opportunity to give the lefty-hitting McMahon some off time. Aaron Schunk will step in at third base in place of McMahon, who had gone hitless in each of his last six starts, bringing his batting average down to .252 for the season.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Lifts three-run homer

McMahon went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run and a walk in Tuesday's 10-7 loss to the Angels. McMahon's blast gave the Rockies a 6-2 advantage in the second inning, but they didn't hold the lead for long. The infielder has gone 15 games without a multi-hit effort, batting a poor .170 in that span, though he has drawn 11 walks. For the season, he's at a .262/.348/.440 slash line with 16 homers, 50 RBI, 51 runs scored, 21 doubles and three stolen bases over 104 contests. After staying put at the trade deadline, McMahon should continue to occupy a starting role in the heart of the lineup.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Sitting Game 1

McMahon is out of the lineup for the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Giants. With southpaw Blake Snell on the mound for the Giants in Game 1, the lefty-hitting McMahon will head to the bench. Aaron Schunk will bat ninth and play third base during the matinee, though McMahon should be back in the lineup for the nightcap against right-hander Hayden Birdsong.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Homers in return

McMahon went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Wednesday against Boston. McMahon missed one game after jamming his finger Monday, but he returned Wednesday to tally his 15th home run of the season. • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Returns to lineup

McMahon (finger) will start at third base and bat fourth in Wednesday's game versus the Red Sox. He jammed a finger in Monday's game and didn't play Tuesday, but he's feeling well enough to give it a go in Wednesday's series finale. McMahon has reached base 11 times over his last five contests but will bring a 23-game homerless streak into action Wednesday.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Remaining out Tuesday

McMahon (finger) isn't in the Rockies' lineup Tuesday against the Red Sox. A jammed finger prevented McMahon from starting Monday's game, and he'll need at least another day to recover before returning to Colorado's starting nine. Aaron Schunk will pick up another start at third base and bat ninth Tuesday.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Dealing with jammed finger

McMahon is not in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the Red Sox due to a jammed finger, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports. McMahon was originally slated for a rest day Sunday, but he was inserted into the starting lineup after Ezequiel Tovar went home with flu-like symptoms and wound up jamming his finger. The issue doesn't appear to be serious though, and McMahon could be back Tuesday. Aaron Schunk will get the nod at the hot corner and bat ninth against Boston right-hander Tanner Houck.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Another multi-hit performance

McMahon went 3-for-4 with a solo homer, two RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's win over the Nationals while also drawing a walk. McMahon continued his offensive surge Saturday, tallying hits in each of his first two trips to the plate before adding a solo home run in the eighth to bring Colorado back within one run of the Nationals. It marked the third baseman's seventh multi-hit performance in his last 10 games, and he's now homered in two of his last three. Over the former stretch he's batting .476 (17-for-42) with four homers, eight RBI and 11 runs scored.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Sitting out Monday

McMahon is out of the lineup for Monday's contest against the Dodgers. The lefty-hitting McMahon is getting just his third day off of the season with a left-hander (James Paxton) on the mound for the Dodgers. Alan Trejo will step in at third base in place of McMahon, who has started to heat back up over the past week with seven hits -- including two home runs -- in his last 20 at-bats.

McMahon went 2-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base in Saturday's 16-4 win over the Pirates. McMahon doubled in his third trip to the plate and advanced to third on a sacrifice fly before stealing home to increase Colorado's lead to five runs. The third baseman would add an RBI double in the eighth, giving him his sixth extra-base hit over his last four games. McMahon has also recorded multiple hits and scored two runs in three of his last four contests.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Homers again Wednesday

McMahon went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a double and an additional run scored in a 17-9 loss to the Twins on Wednesday. McMahon cut the Rockies' deficit to 5-2 in the fourth inning with a 427-foot blast off Pablo Lopez, his 12th homer of the year. The 29-year-old McMahon looks to have broken out of a prolonged slump -- he's gone 4-for-7 with two doubles and two home runs in his last two games after struggling to a .115 average (7-for-61) in his previous 17 contests. Overall, McMahon's now slashing .267/.350/.462 with 36 RBI and 35 runs scored across 288 plate appearances this year.

McMahon went 2-for-4 with a double, a solo homer and an additional run during Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Twins. McMahon generated his first multi-hit game since May 22, scoring in the sixth inning after reaching on a double and then swatting a solo homer off Cole Sands in the eighth inning. The third baseman had been in a rut prior to Tuesday's game, going 2-for-29 with two runs and no RBI in the past seven games. Still, McMahon owns a .788 OPS with 11 home runs across 66 games this year.
