Red Sox's Tyler Olson: Joins BoSox on MiLB deal
Olson agreed Tuesday with the Red Sox on a minor-league contract, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
Olson boasts a 3.83 ERA and 9.0 K/9 across 124 MLB relief appearances with the Mariners, Yankees and Cleveland. The 31-year-old lefty was part of the Cubs' 60-man roster pool in 2020, but he never received a call-up to the big club. Olson will report to the Red Sox's alternate site in Fort Myers, Fla. before likely moving on to Triple-A Worcester when the minor-league season gets underway.

Indians' Tyler Olson: Called up by Cleveland
Olson was recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday.
Olson is up to replace Andrew Miller, who hit the disabled list with a left shoulder impingement. Olson has an ugly 6.75 ERA in 20 innings with the Indians so far this season, though his underlying numbers paint a prettier picture. His walk rate (9.0 percent) and groundball rate (39.6 percent) are close enough to average, while his 30.3 percent strikeout rate is quite good, leading to a promising 3.39 xFIP.

Indians' Tyler Olson: Optioned to Triple-A
Olson was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Saturday.
While Olson has thrown a pair of scoreless frames for Cleveland since the team recalled him Tuesday, the spot was expected to be temporary with Adam Plutko's promotion for Saturday's start pending. That's indeed the case, and Olson will return to Columbus, where he's dominated to the tune of a 1.86 ERA and 0.54 WHIP with a 13.97 K/9 and a 0.93 BB/9 over 9.2 frames this season. He should remain at the forefront of potential promotions should another spot in the bullpen open up.

Indians' Tyler Olson: Called up by Cleveland
Olson was recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
The Indians will have an extra arm in the bullpen for the next few days after Trevor Bauer hit the disabled list with a small stress fracture in his right fibula. Olson's stay could be short, as Adam Plutko is expected to be called up Saturday to take Bauer's place in the rotation. Olson's ugly 7.50 ERA in 18 innings this season suggests he's best suited for a low-leverage role.

Indians' Tyler Olson: Heads to DL with lat strain
The Indians placed Olson on the 10-day disabled list Sunday with a strained left lat, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.
Olson likely picked up the injury during his appearance in Saturday's 9-3 loss to the Twins, when he retired just one of the four hitters he faced en route to giving up two runs. The Indians don't have a firm timetable for Olson's return, but one should come forth once he's cleared to resume throwing again.
