  • Orioles' Andrew Faulkner: Set to attend spring training

Faulkner will attend Baltimore's spring training as a non-roster invitee.

Faulkner played well at Triple-A Norfolk after being acquired from the Rangers last season. Over 34 games (38.2 innings) he compiled a 2.79 ERA and 1.41 WHIP. He still has some work to do in terms of control, as he walked 24 batters in that time, but could appear in the majors should he continue showing improvement at spring training and with Norfolk.

  • Orioles' Andrew Faulkner: Re-signs with Orioles

Faulkner signed a minor-league deal with Baltimore on Friday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

Faulkner returns to the Orioles' organization after spending most of the 2017 season with its Triple-A affiliate. The 25-year-old was dealt from Texas to Baltimore in early April, and posted a 2.79 ERA and 1.41 WHIP over 38.2 relief innings with Norfolk over the course of the year. Prior to this past season, Faulkner had appeared in 20 big-league games dating back to 2015, and has demonstrated the ability to earn outs at the game's highest level. It seems likely that the left-hander will begin the 2018 campaign with Norfolk, but could wind up toeing the rubber in the majors if he's able to repeat his numbers from a year ago.

  • Orioles' Andrew Faulkner: Assigned to Triple-A

Faulkner cleared waivers and was assigned to Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday, Rich Dubroff of PressBoxonline.com reports.

Faulkner only pitched at the Triple-A level this season. Over 34 games (38.2 innings) with Norfolk he posted a 2.79 ERA and 1.41 WHIP. If he makes his way up to the big club, the southpaw would likely be used in low-leverage situations.

  • Orioles' Andrew Faulkner: Designated for assignment

Faulkner was designated for assignment by the Orioles on Friday.

With JJ Hardy coming off the 60-day DL (wrist), the Orioles chose to cast Faulkner off the 40-man roster to free up space for the shortstop. During the 2017 season, Faulkner has posted a 2.79 ERA and 1.41 ERA in 38.2 relief innings for Triple-A Norfolk, and will remain with the club if he passes through waivers unclaimed.

  • Orioles' Andrew Faulkner: Headed west for Fall League

Faulkner was assigned to play in this year's Arizona Fall League, Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com reports.

Faulkner, who joined the organization earlier this year in a deal with the Rangers, has thrown well for Triple-A Norfolk. The 24-year-old lefty has a 2.50 ERA in 36 innings with 32 strikeouts this year. Faulkner will use the fall to hone his mechanics in hopes of earning a bullpen job when spring rolls around.

  • Orioles' Andrew Faulkner: Joins Triple-A

Faulkner recently joined Triple-A Norfolk, but he's not yet a consideration for a promotion to the majors, Rich Dubroff of PressBoxOnline.com reports.

After beginning the campaign working out with Low-A Delmarva, Faulkner jumped aboard with the Tides early last week. Faulkner's now managed four scoreless outings in five appearances for Norfolk, although in his fifth game the left-hander surrendered three runs while recording a single out, giving him an unattractive 6.23 ERA in the early going. Faulkner has 20 games of MLB experience (all with Texas), and could make his Orioles debut in 2017 if the big-league club develops a need for a southpaw specialist.

  • Orioles' Andrew Faulkner: Shipped to Orioles

Faulkner was traded to the Orioles on Thursday for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

Faulkner has appeared briefly for the Rangers over the past two seasons, accumulating a 4.41 ERA across 16.1 innings with an 11:7 K:BB. He was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock early in spring training after struggling with his delivery, and he'll head straight to Triple-A Norfolk after the deal is finalized. The move clears a spot on the Rangers' 40-man roster, while the Orioles released Dariel Alvarez to make way for Faulkner. If he's able to smooth out his kinks at Triple-A, he could emerge as a lefty specialist for the Orioles later in the season.

  • Rangers' Andrew Faulkner: Optioned to Triple-A Round Rock

Faulkner was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday.

Faulkner only made two appearances during Cactus League play, so his assignment to minor league camp is less of a banishment than it is an opportunity for the Rangers to evaluate more serious candidates for Opening Day bullpen jobs. The 24-year-old could emerge as a lefty specialist for the Rangers later in the season.

  • Rangers' Andrew Faulkner: Feeling OK after Wednesday departure

Faulkner feels alright following his departure from Wednesday's game due to lightheadedness, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Faulkner, who is competing for one of the final bullpen spots in Texas, exited early Wednesday after he reported feeling lightheaded. It now appears as if this was merely a case of dehydration, so the lefty should be fine for a regular workload moving forward.

  • Rangers' Andrew Faulkner: Leaves feeling light-headed

Faulkner left Wednesday's exhibition game after feeling light-headed, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Stefan Stevenson reports.

This is a bit mysterious, but at least it's not an arm injury. Faulkner is competing for one of the final bullpen spots for the Rangers, but even if he makes the team out of camp, he will likely only pitch in low-leverage spots. He will sit out on baseball activities until this ailment passes, while we could have more information on the exact cause of the illness in the coming days.

  • Rangers' Andrew Faulkner: Recalled from Triple-A

Faulkner was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock and is active for Friday's game.

He has a 7.94 ERA in 5.2 innings with the Rangers this year and a career 4.70 ERA in 15.1 innings. His minor league numbers are better, but not so much so that owners should expect him to be anything other than a low-leverage arm going forward.

  • Rangers' Andrew Faulkner: Optioned to Triple-A on Thursday

Faulkner was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday.

Faulkner was vastly better during his most recent stint with the major league club, only allowing one earned run in 1.2 innings of work, but he did allow three hits and a walk during that time while only holding one major league strikeout. He'll head back to the minors to develop more. A corresponding move won't be announced until Friday, but there is some speculation that it could be Shin-Soo Choo (calf) who takes his roster spot.

  • Rangers' Andrew Faulkner: Back from Triple-A

Faulkner was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Faulkner began the year with the Rangers but was sent down two weeks into the season after allowing five hits and four earned runs through 4.1 innings of work. The left-hander has found success at Round Rock, posting a 1.42 ERA across six appearances (6.1 innings). In a corresponding move, the Rangers optioned righty Anthony Ranaudo to Triple-A.

  • Rangers' Andrew Faulkner: Optioned to Triple-A

Faulkner was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday.

He had one strikeout with three walks in 4.1 innings of relief for Texas, and will serve as organizational bullpen depth at the Triple-A level. Nick Martinez was recalled as a corresponding move to serve as an innings eater out of the big league bullpen.

  • Rangers' Andrew Faulkner: Earns spot in bullpen

Faulkner will be on the Opening Day roster, Jeff Worth of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

A former 14th-round draft pick, the 23-year-old Faulkner struggled as a starter for Double-A Frisco last season, but he quickly moved up the organizational ladder after moving to the bullpen. He had 13 strikeouts in eight scoreless innings for Triple-A Round Rock, then put up 10 strikeouts and a 2.79 ERA in 9.2 innings with the Rangers. Though he he clearly has late-inning potential, Faulker may find that it's tough to climb the ladder in a solid Texas bullpen. He could, however, replace Jake Diekman as the top left-handed option.
