Bregman enjoyed the thin Colorado air as he blasted his sixth home run of the season in the seventh inning. The Chicago third baseman came into the contest batting just .138 this month, and it's been a down campaign overall in his first year with the Cubs, as he has a .685 OPS through 310 plate appearances. Bregman has played in 68 of the team's 69 games, however, and he should continue to see ample playing time as he looks to build some momentum for the stretch run.

Bregman provided all of Chicago's offense in the sixth inning with his fifth home run of the season and first since May 12. While the third baseman isn't providing a ton of power, he is now riding an 11-game hitting streak, and he's scored six runs during the stretch. Bregman hasn't yet fully lived up to his big offseason contract from the Cubs, but he's historically been a player who heats up down the stretch, so his best production could still be ahead of him in 2026.

The Cubs are in a tailspin with 10 straight losses, but Bregman is at least carrying his weight lately with a six-game hitting streak, and he's batting .348 during the hot stretch. Bregman is heating up with a six-game hitting streak, and he's batting .308 with a home run and five runs scored during the productive stretch. It's been a bit of a slow start overall for the veteran third baseman (.696 OPS), but his recent play could be a preview of better days ahead, and there should be no shortage of playing time for Bregman in the heart of Chicago's lineup.

Bregman accounted for Chicago's only hit of the game, launching a solo homer off Grant Holmes in the fourth inning to get the Cubs on the board. The veteran has struggled badly at the plate in May, going just 6-for-39 (.154) with a 5:10 BB:K across 10 games. Bregman's now slashing .233/.326/.350 with four homers, five doubles, 14 RBI and 17 runs scored in 187 plate appearances.
Bregman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers.
The third baseman will get a breather a day after the Cubs' 10-game winning streak came to an end. Bregman didn't contribute much to the club's heater by batting just .222 with seven runs and three RBI during the streak before going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts Saturday. Matt Shaw will handle the hot corner in Bregman's place.

Though he was in some pain after fouling a ball off of his foot in Sunday's 6-0 loss to the Dodgers, Bregman remained in the lineup for Monday's series opener in San Diego before heading to the bench Tuesday. He still ended up making an impact in a reserve role in the Cubs' 8-3 win, entering the game as a pinch hitter and going 2-for-2 with a pair of base knocks, an RBI and a run while playing three innings in the field. Despite the quick turnaround Wednesday as the Cubs and Padres wrap up their series with a day game after a night game, Bregman looks like he's made enough progress with the toe injury to play a full nine innings.
