  • Guardians' Rhys Hoskins: Swats three-run homer in loss

Hoskins went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run and one walk in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Royals. Hoskins took Stephen Kolek deep in the fourth inning, accounting for Cleveland's lone extra-base hit of the night and all three runs. Hoskins has now homered in two of his last four games after going deep just once in Cleveland's first 32 contests. The veteran first baseman is slashing .207/.353/.390 with three homers, 13 RBI, 15 runs scored and an 18:28 BB:K across 102 plate appearances this season.

  • Guardians' Rhys Hoskins: Homer, double in win

Hoskins went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a home run and three RBI in Friday's 8-5 win over the Athletics. Hoskins' two-run two-bagger tied the game at 4-4 in the fifth inning, and he added a solo shot in the seventh that ended up being the decisive run. The first baseman had gone just 2-for-13 across six games since his last multi-hit performance. He's batting .219 with a .751 OPS, two homers, nine RBI, 13 runs scored, six doubles and no stolen bases over 90 plate appearances this season. Hoskins should be in the lineup against most southpaws while seeing part-time usage between first base and designated hitter against right-handers.

  • Guardians' Rhys Hoskins: Sitting in second straight

Hoskins is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. After a recent stretch of four consecutive starts, Hoskins will be on the bench against a right-handed pitcher for a second straight game as the Guardians close out their series with the Rays. Hoskins should continue to regularly replace Kyle Manzardo at first base when the Guardians face lefties, but Hoskins looks like he'll have to settle for a part-time role versus righties.

  • Guardians' Rhys Hoskins: Drawing fourth straight start

Hoskins will start at first base and bat cleanup in Monday's game against the Rays. Hoskins will remain in the lineup for a fourth straight game after getting on base in five of his 12 plate appearances over the previous three contests. The 33-year-old should continue seeing regular starts versus left-handed pitching at the expense of Kyle Manzardo, but Hoskins will likely remain limited to more of a part-time role against righties.

  • Guardians' Rhys Hoskins: Out of lineup again

Hoskins is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Astros. After starting four straight contests, Hoskins has now been out of the lineup for two straight. • Guardians' Rhys Hoskins: Exiting starting lineup

Hoskins is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Astros. Hoskins had started each of the previous four tilts, but he'll begin Tuesday's contest on the bench. Chase DeLauter is getting a turn in the designated-hitter spot, and George Valera will patrol right field.

  • Guardians' Rhys Hoskins: Drawing fourth straight start

Hoskins will start at designated hitter and bat fifth in Monday's game against the Astros. Hoskins will stick in the lineup for a fourth straight game, with Cleveland having faced three right-handed starters during that stretch. The 33-year-old had begun to lose out on regular starts after striking out at a 41.4 percent clip over his first eight games, but he's turned in more competitive plate appearances since then, walking nearly as often as he's struck out (5:6 BB:K). Hoskins is still batting just .192 on the season and isn't providing much power either (one home run), making him an underwhelming fantasy option through the first three-plus weeks.

  • Guardians' Rhys Hoskins: Sitting down Saturday

Hoskins isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Seattle. Hoskins will get a chance to catch his breath after going 3-for-6 with a run scored and a pair of walks over the first two games of the season. His absence will put Kyle Manzardo at first base and open a spot in the lineup for Angel Martinez to start in left field.

  • Guardians' Rhys Hoskins: Officially added to roster

The Guardians selected Hoskins' contract to the major-league roster Wednesday. Hoskins joined Cleveland on a minor-league contract in February and earned a spot on the Opening Day roster with an .817 OPS and three homers during spring training. • Guardians' Rhys Hoskins: Belts first spring homer

Hoskins started at first base and went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI in Saturday's spring game against San Diego. Hoskins, who served as the designated hitter in his first four Cactus League appearances, made his first start in the field. His first at-bat was an epic 13-pitch battle with Padres starter Michael King that ended in a strikeout. Two innings later, he took King deep on a first-pitch fastball for his first spring homer, a two-run shot. An inning later, the first baseman singled in another two runs. Until Saturday, Hoskins was having a difficult spring, going 1-for-12 while striking out seven times.

  • Guardians' Rhys Hoskins: Debuts for Guards

Hoskins served as the designated hitter and went 0-for-2 with a walk in Friday's spring game against the Cubs. Hoskins made his debut in a Guardians uniform Friday and helped spur a rally with his seventh-inning free pass. It looked like he'd struck out a third time on 3-2 pitch leading off the inning, but Hoskins challenged the ruling, and ABS reversed the call for a walk. Cleveland went on to score five times.

  • Guardians' Rhys Hoskins: Ready for debut

Hoskins is expected to serve as the designated hitter in Friday's spring game against the Cubs, pending final check-ins with the team's medical staff, Joe Noga of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Hoskins was signed to a minor-league contract last weekend and is expected to be added to the 40-man roster and be part of the Opening Day roster. He and Kyle Manzardo are expected to share first base during the regular season.

  • Guardians' Rhys Hoskins: Lands minors deal with Cleveland

Hoskins agreed to a minor-league contract with the Guardians on Sunday that includes an invitation to spring training, Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. According to Zack Meisel of The Athletic, the contract will pay Hoskins a base salary of $1.5 million should he make the major-league roster, which seems likely. Hoskins missed extended time last season with a Grade 2 thumb sprain, but he has been above league average by wRC+ every season of his career. He will compete for time at first base and designated hitter with Cleveland.

  • Rhys Hoskins: Joining Cleveland

Hoskins was seen in the Guardians' clubhouse Sunday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. The move has not been officially announced, but it's believed to be a minor-league contract with a base salary of $1.5 million if he makes the major-league roster. Hoskins already has his own locker and was even in Guardians gear Sunday, per Zack Meisel of The Athletic. Hoskins slashed .237/.332/.416 with 12 homers and 43 RBI in 90 regular-season games with Milwaukee last season, leading the Brewers to decline his mutual option for 2026.
