Pirates' Ryan O'Hearn: Out 6-to-8 weeks
The Pirates placed O'Hearn on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a left quad strain, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
O'Hearn had to be helped off the field Friday after tweaking his quad while running to first base, and he's expected to remain on the shelf for roughly 6-to-8 weeks after being diagnosed with a strain. His initial timeline leaves room for him to return during the final weeks of the regular season, but the Pirates could elect to keep him out for the rest of the year depending on where they sit in the race for a postseason berth. Until then, Jacob Gonzalez figures to see more time at first base, while Rafael Flores (concussion) will come off the IL to fill the open roster spot.

Pirates' Ryan O'Hearn: Helped off field
O'Hearn was removed from Friday's game against the Reds with an apparent quad injury, Dominic Campbell of SI.com reports.
O'Hearn was grabbing at his left quad while attempting to beat out a groundball in the ninth inning, and he had to be helped off the field by the Pirates' training staff. He'll presumably be sent in for imaging, and the team could provide an update on his health in the near future. If he ends up needing to miss additional time, Jacob Gonzalez would presumably shift to first base, opening up shortstop for Jared Triolo.

Pirates' Ryan O'Hearn: Grand slam against Cubs
O'Hearn went 1-for-2 with a grand slam, two walks and two runs scored Sunday against the Cubs.
O'Hearn broke the game open with a grand slam in the third inning, his 17th home run of the season. He's now matched his career-best homer total -- previously set in 2025 -- but he's reached the mark in 169 fewer plate appearances in the current campaign. However, O'Hearn has slumped for much of July, and he's gone only 6-for-31 since the All-Star break.

Pirates' Ryan O'Hearn: Homers thrice in rout
O'Hearn went 4-for-5 with three home runs and 10 RBI in Tuesday's 12-4 win over Atlanta.
O'Hearn launched a grand slam and two three-run shots, driving in 10 of Pittsburgh's 14 runs. Per Aiden Stepansky of MLB.com, O'Hearn became just the 17th player in the modern era to tally at least 10 RBI in a game. The 32-year-old has now hit safely in eight of his past nine starts, including another multi-homer effort June 28. On the season, he's slashing .293/.351/.500 with 16 homers, 61 RBI, 47 runs scored and one steal across 319 plate appearances in what is shaping up to be a career year.

O'Hearn put the Pirates ahead 5-4 with a 421-foot blast off Brady Singer in the fifth inning before extending the lead to 8-4 with his second home run, a three-run shot off Pierce Johnson in the eighth. Prior to Sunday, O'Hearn had homered just once in his previous 16 games. Overall, he's slashing .286/.342/.479 with 13 homers, 50 RBI and 38 runs scored across 284 plate appearances this season.

O'Hearn went 4-for-5 with three doubles, three RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 11-1 win over the Mariners.
It was a huge night at the plate for O'Hearn, who'd gone just 1-for-16 over four games prior to Wednesday. He extended Pittsburgh's lead to 7-1 with a two-run double in the seventh inning before driving in a third run with his third double of the contest in the eighth. Overall, O'Hearn is slashing .285/.342/.467 with 11 homers, 44 RBI and 35 runs scored through 266 plate appearances this season.

O'Hearn went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run, a double and six RBI in Wednesday's 12-4 win over the Athletics.
O'Hearn delivered two RBI with each of his hits. He doubled in the first inning, homered in the fourth and singled in the seventh while accounting for half of the Pirates' run production in a career-best effort. O'Hearn is batting .290 with an .826 OPS, 11 homers, 41 RBI, 33 runs scored, eight doubles and one stolen base over 60 contests this season. He remains a fixture in the lineup versus right-handed pitchers.

O'Hearn went 2-for-4 with a home run and an additional RBI in a 5-1 win against Houston on Thursday.
O'Hearn kicked off the scoring with an RBI single in the third inning. He later hit Pittsburgh's only homer of the game with a two-run shot to right field in the sixth. Thursday marked O'Hearn's fourth game since he returned from a stay on the injured list due to a quad injury. O'Hearn has been on the shelf the past couple weeks due to a quad strain but is ready to rejoin Pittsburgh's active roster without the need of a minor-league rehab assignment. The 32-year-old had a strong start to the campaign prior to the injury with seven homers, 29 RBI, 27 runs and an .827 OPS through 44 contests. O'Hearn has been sidelined since May 17 with a strained right quad and wasn't cleared to resume baseball activity until Monday, but a quick recovery will allow him to return to the active roster before the end of the month. O'Hearn did agility and cone drills in the outfield, marking his first activity since being placed on the injured list May 17. He remains on track for a mid-June return.
