Neidert (knee) is scheduled to pitch during Sunday's spring game against the Dodgers, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Neidert signed a minor-league deal with Chicago in November after being outrighted off the Marlins' 40-man roster, and he's now fully recovered from the knee procedure he underwent in September. The 26-year-old made only one appearance in the big leagues last season and had a 1.96 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 48:9 K:BB over 46 innings at Triple-A.

Cubs' Nick Neidert: Gets deal with Cubs
Neidert (knee) signed a minor-league deal with the Cubs on Friday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
He underwent knee surgery in September, so it's unclear if he will be a full go for spring training. Neidert was non-tendered by the Marlins this offseason. His deal with Chicago includes opt outs on June 1 and July 1. The 26-year-old righty usually works as a starter, but with a career 4.59 ERA and 28:25 K:BB in 49 MLB innings, he may have a better shot of reaching the majors as a reliever.

Marlins' Nick Neidert: Sidelined at Triple-A
Triple-A Jacksonville placed Neidert on its 7-day injured list Aug. 9.
Neidert was demoted to Triple-A earlier this month after he struck out three and allowed two runs over five innings in a spot start with the Marlins on July 30. The right-hander might have been a candidate to rejoin the big club if the Marlins' rotation depth was further tested in the weeks to come, but his injury will take that possibility off the table for the time being.

Marlins' Nick Neidert: Back to Jacksonville
Neidert was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Neidert has spent the majority of his season with Triple-A Jacksonville but did make an effective spot start with the big-league club Saturday. However, Edward Cabrera (elbow) is set to return to action, forcing Neidert back to the minors. Neidert could factor into the Marlins' plans down the stretch if the team is in need of depth in either the bullpen or rotation.

Marlins' Nick Neidert: Pitches well but takes loss
Neidert (0-1) was tagged with the loss against the Mets on Saturday, allowing two runs on five hits and no walks while striking out three batters over five innings.
Neidert was called up Saturday to make his season debut, and he held his own against a formidable Mets offense. The right-hander gave up a pair of runs in the third inning but held New York scoreless in each of his other four frames; however, Carlos Carrasco and Seth Lugo combined to shut out Miami, resulting in Neidert taking the loss. With Trevor Rogers (back) on the 15-day IL, Neidert could be in line for another start next week, and he could stick in the rotation for a while if he strings together a few strong outings.

Neidert's contract was selected by the Marlins to start Saturday against the Mets, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Neidert has been productive at Triple-A Jacksonville this year, posting a 2.25 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in 40 innings over 13 appearances (seven starts). Assuming he performs well Saturday, it wouldn't be surprising to see the 25-year-old remain in the rotation while Rogers is sidelined.
