DeJong went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer and a walk in Tuesday's 6-1 victory over Cleveland.
The Kansas City infielder opened the game's scoring when he launched a 395-foot, two-run homer off Gavin Williams in the second inning for his fifth long ball with the Royals. DeJong continues to swing a sizzling bat with his new club, hitting .304 (17-for-56) with 12 RBI, 10 runs scored and 7:20 BB:K across 19 games. He is playing roughly two-thirds of the time as he splits at-bats on the infield with Maikel Garcia and Michael Massey. Overall, DeJong is slashing .239/.290/.458 in 427 plate appearances this season with the Royals and White Sox.

Royals' Paul DeJong: Goes yard in nightcap
DeJong went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run scored in a 9-4 win over the Guardians in Game 2 of Monday's doubleheader.
DeJong didn't play in the matinee, but he was able to make an impact while starting at third base in the nightcap. The veteran infielder extended his team's lead to 3-0 when he launched a 397-foot, two-run homer off starter Carson Fulmer in the fourth inning. DeJong had gone just 1-for-11 over his last six games before breaking out of the slump Wednesday. The infielder reached the 20-homer mark for the first time since he hit 30 in 2019. He's added a .235/.285/.442 slash line with 46 RBI, 44 runs scored, 15 doubles and two stolen bases across 112 contests between the Royals and White Sox. DeJong's big game could help him earn more playing time, but he's unlikely to be anywhere near an everyday player in the Royals' crowded infield.

DeJong went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 6-5 extra-innings loss to the Tigers.
DeJong has started three of the Royals' last four games at third base and looks to be the team's top option there. Maikel Garcia provides the Royals with infield flexibility, and DeJong's increased role has led to a drop in playing time for second baseman Michael Massey. DeJong has gone 10-for-26 during his active eight-game hitting streak that dates back to July 25 when he was with the White Sox. For the year, he's produced a .233/.279/.437 slash line, 19 homers, 45 RBI, 41 runs scored, two stolen bases and 14 doubles over 105 contests. For now, it looks like manager Matt Quatraro will ride the hot hand when filling out his lineup card for second base and third base.
