The Rays will place Enns on waivers Wednesday with the aim of granting him his unconditional release to pursue playing opportunities in Asia, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Enns will have to clear waivers before he's officially granted his release Friday, but the expectation is that he'll go unclaimed since he seemingly already has an agreement in place with a team in Korea, Japan or Taiwan. The 30-year-old lefty likely would have been worthy of a 40-man roster spot with the Rays or another organization after submitting a 2.82 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 25:6 K:BB across 22.1 innings with Tampa Bay this past season, but since he's not arbitration eligible until 2024 and not scheduled to hit free agency until 2027, Enns will be able to secure a more lucrative deal by heading overseas for his prime earnings years.

Enns struck out the only batter he faced to record his second save of the year Monday in a 6-4 win over the Blue Jays.
The Rays entered the ninth sitting on a 6-2 lead, but things quickly changed after David Robertson allowed a two-run homer to Marcus Semien to make it 6-4. Robertson was eventually replaced by JT Chargois who couldn't escape the inning either after loading the bases. Enns was the next one to be called upon and was able to clean up the mess by striking out Breyvic Valera to end the game. Enns has been fantastic this month with a 0.79 ERA, 0,71 WHIP and 13:1 K:BB to go along with two wins and two saves over four appearances. The Rays still don't have an outright closer, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Enns get at least another save before the regular season ends.

Enns was one of six Twins sent back to minor-league camp Wednesday, with fellow pitcher Felix Jorge also set to join him in Rochester to begin the campaign. With the Twins bolstering their rotation depth earlier this spring with the acquisition of Jake Odorizzi and Ervin Santana (finger) on the mend, Enns, who appeared in two games (one start) with the big club last season, doesn't have an easy path back to Minnesota even if he excels with Rochester early on this season. At this point, Phil Hughes, Anibal Sanchez, Tyler Duffey and Aaron Slegers probably all rank ahead of Enns as back-end rotation options should injuries open up another spot on the staff.
