Cody Sedlock: Dropped by Sox
The White Sox released Sedlock on Tuesday.
Sedlock signed a minor-league deal with the White Sox in April, and he has since allowed 10 earned runs in just five innings with Triple-A Charlotte. He'll now attempt to latch on with another organization, but a return to the majors doesn't seem to be coming anytime soon.

White Sox's Cody Sedlock: Gets minors deal from ChiSox
Sedlock signed a minor-league contract with the White Sox on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old made one appearance with the Orioles in 2022 before being traded to the Tigers and eventually released. He didn't pitch anywhere in 2023 and has been assigned to Chicago's Arizona Complex League affiliate for the time being. Sedlock was a first-round pick by the O's in 2016, but he has battled numerous arm issues during his career.

Tigers' Cody Sedlock: Shipped to Detroit
Sedlock was acquired by the Tigers from the Orioles on Sunday in exchange for cash considerations, Zachary Silver of MLB.com reports.
A 2016 first-round pick, Sedlock made his big-league debut for Baltimore in May and surrendered five earned runs over three innings. He was subsequently removed from the 40-man roster and posted a 5.04 ERA with Triple-A Norfolk over the past month. The 27-year-old has failed to live up to his draft pedigree to this point but will now receive a fresh start.

Orioles' Cody Sedlock: Clears waivers, assigned to Norfolk
Sedlock cleared waivers Friday and was assigned to Triple-A Norfolk, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
The reliever was designated for assignment by the Orioles on Friday in order to open a 40-man roster spot for Austin Voth and he will now report to Norfolk after going unclaimed on waivers. Sedlock has produced a 5.56 ERA and 1.50 WHIP with 41 strikeouts over 34 frames in nine appearances at Triple-A this season.

Orioles' Cody Sedlock: Moved off 40-man roster
The Orioles designated Sedlock for assignment Tuesday.
Baltimore will swap Sedlock off the 40-man roster for another long-relief option in Austin Voth, whom the team claimed off waivers from the Nationals. After receiving his first call-up to the majors May 28, Sedlock was roughed up for five earned runs in three innings out of the bullpen a day later against the Red Sox before he was sent back to Triple-A Norfolk. He'll remain with the organization as a member of Norfolk's pitching staff if he clears waivers.

Orioles' Cody Sedlock: Optioned to Triple-A
Sedlock was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on Monday.
Sedlock made his major-league debut Sunday against the Red Sox, but he was hit hard for five runs in three innings. Zac Lowther was promoted from Norfolk in a corresponding move to provide a fresh multi-inning arm for Tuesday's bullpen game versus the Mariners.

Orioles' Cody Sedlock: Works three innings in debut
Sedlock allowed five runs on six hits and a walk with three strikeouts in three innings versus the Red Sox on Sunday.
Sedlock got through the fifth through seventh innings without too much trouble, but he got into trouble in the eighth. Marcos Diplan allowed an inherited runner to score after Sedlock left the contest. It was far from a dream debut for the right-hander, who will need to show more than what he did Sunday to maintain his place on the major-league roster.

Orioles' Cody Sedlock: Contract selected by Baltimore
Sedlock's contract was selected by the Orioles on Saturday.
Sedlock made eight appearances (four starts) at Triple-A Norfolk to begin the season, and he posted a 5.83 ERA and 1.48 WHIP in 29.1 innings. Although the right-hander has operated in a hybrid role in the minors, he'll pitch out of the bullpen to begin his major-league career.

Orioles' Cody Sedlock: Activated from minor-league DL
Sedlock (shoulder) was activated from the minor-league disabled list Tuesday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Sedlock is finally back in action with High-A Frederick after spending nearly four months on the disabled list with a shoulder injury. Prior to suffering the injury, Sedlock compiled an unsightly 13.50 ERA and 2.68 WHIP across three starts for the Keys. The 2016 first-round pick will look to turn things around now that he's back to full health.

Orioles' Cody Sedlock: Will receive injection for shoulder
An MRI on Sedlock's strained right shoulder came back negative, but the 22-year-old is set to receive an injection in the upcoming days, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
While Sedlock was fortunate to avoid structural damage to the shoulder, he'll almost certainly miss more than the minimum seven days after High-A Frederick placed him on its disabled list Saturday. It shouldn't represent a major setback in Sedlock's development, but the right-hander likely isn't on many fantasy radars yet in dynasty settings after struggling in his 20 starts with Frederick a season ago. Sedlock delivered a 5.90 ERA, 1.72 WHIP and 69:36 K:BB across 90 frames in 2017.

Orioles' Cody Sedlock: Lands on DL
Sedlock was placed on the minor-league disabled list with a strained right shoulder, Rich Dubroff of PressBoxonline.com reports.
Sedlock hit the DL a couple times in 2017, once with a right elbow flexor strain and then again with a forearm strain in his throwing arm. Over three appearance with High-A Frederick this season, he's logged a 13.50 ERA and 2.75 WHIP over 9.1 innings.

Orioles' Cody Sedlock: Disappoints in 20 starts at High-A
Sedlock (forearm) finished 2017 with a 5.90 ERA and 1.72 WHIP over 20 starts for High-A Frederick.
The right-handed prospect ended the campaign a bit early after suffering a strain in his throwing arm, but Sedlock had shown enough by the time he was shut down. It certainly wasn't the sophomore season 2016's first-round pick had hoped for, as opponents ripped Sedlock for a .313 BAA while pounding out 11 home runs over 90 innings. His efforts certainly don't warrant a promotion next year, so look for Sedlock to open 2018 right back in Frederick.

Orioles' Cody Sedlock: Back on DL
Sedlock was placed on the disabled list at High-A Frederick due to a right forearm strain Friday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Sedlock was experiencing tightness in his forearm, and heads to the DL for the second time this season. The first trip came in July and lasted three weeks, as he dealt with a right elbow flexor strain. According to general manager Dan Duquette, Sedlock will likely be shut down for the rest of 2017 since the Carolina League's regular season ends soon.

Orioles' Cody Sedlock: Throws bullpen Saturday
Sedlock (elbow) tossed a 30-pitch bullpen session Saturday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Sedlock landed on the disabled list with a right elbow flexor strain at the beginning of the month, and is slowly nearing his return to the mound. The 22-year-old said that his arm "felt good" following the session, and he should be able to ramp up his progression over the course of the next week before coming back to High-A Frederick.

Orioles' Cody Sedlock: Lands on disabled list
Sedlock is headed to the 7-day DL with a right elbow flexor strain, retroactive to June 29, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Sedlock is looking at about a month out of the rotation due to the elbow injury, but could miss even more time, depending on the reevaluation. In his first exposure to the High-A level with Frederick this season, Sedlock has made 13 starts (59 innings) and has posted a 6.86 ERA with a 1.76 WHIP.

Orioles' Cody Sedlock: Earns first professional win
Sedlock, the Orioles' No. 6 prospect, rattled off six scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and walking one while striking out five in his first professional win Saturday for High-A Frederick.
As the O's first-round pick worked into the sixth inning Saturday, he found himself in uncharted waters. Never before in his professional career had Sedlock pitched more than three innings in a game. With an adept knowledge of the game and impressive talent, Sedlock can look toward improving on the 3.00 ERA he posted in his first minor-league season. It wouldn't be a surprise to see the 21-year-old promoted to the higher levels by midseason.

Orioles' Cody Sedlock: Assigned to High-A Frederick
Sedlock will begin the season at High-A Frederick, Steve Melewski of MASN Sports reports.
Sedlock pitched just one inning for the Orioles this spring, and it was one to forget. He allowed four runs off five his, two of which were home runs. The club is being patient with Sedlock's development, so the prospect's rough spring outing isn't worth getting hung up on moving into the 2017 season.

Orioles' Cody Sedlock: Meticulously developing pitches
Sedlock was told by the Orioles' coaching staff to take it slow this spring and work on developing one pitch at a time, MLB.com's Jonathan Mayo reports.
Asking a first-round pick to take his time developing is no surprise, but the team made it a point to the No. 6 prospect that there's no need to rush. "It took a lot of getting used to. For me, with my competitive nature, I want to be at my best every single time I step on the mound and have my full arsenal," Sedlock said. "Once I was told what I needed to work on, I stayed within myself and realized that if things are going to go the right way this year, I'm going to have to work on one thing at a time." Sedlock said he spent the first couple weeks of camp just working on his fastballs while ignoring all off-speed pitches. The 6-foot-4 right-hander projects to be a mid-rotation starter in time, but the journey is just beginning for the 21-year-old. In dynasty formats, Sedlock is definitely worth putting on the watch list.
