Orioles' Kelvin Gutierrez: Two walks, steal
Gutierrez went 0-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base in a 7-6 loss Sunday against the Angels.
Gutierrez walked in both the fifth and sixth innings and stole second on a double-steal in the sixth. It was the 10th appearance for the third baseman this season and he's gone hitless in nine of those contests. With a .091 batting average and .367 OPS, the 27-year-old is providing very little production at the hot corner for Baltimore.

Gutierrez went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI, a run and a strikeout in Sunday's 5-0 win over the Yankees.
Gutierrez hadn't recorded any hits in his first five appearances of the season, but he was the only player to record an extra-base hit for the Orioles during Sunday's matchup. The 27-year-old has started just three games to begin the year and has gone 2-for-10 with two runs, two RBI and two walks.

Orioles' Kelvin Gutierrez: On bench for third straight
Gutierrez remains out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Brewers, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Since drawing a start at the hot corner Opening Day, Gutierrez has now been on the bench for three straight contests while Ramon Urias has taken over as the primary option at the hot corner. Gutierrez's lone start came against a lefty pitcher (Shane McClanahan), while his three consecutive games on the bench have come with the opposition bringing right-handers to the hill. He looks as though he'll be a short-side platoon player for the Orioles.

Orioles' Kelvin Gutierrez: May begin season as reserve
Gutierrez was excluded from the lineup for Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Rays and may serve as a reserve infielder for the Orioles to begin the regular season, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.
After closing last season as the Orioles' everyday third baseman, Gutierrez was believed to be the top option at the position entering spring training, but manager Brandon Hyde's spring lineups have suggested otherwise. Hyde noted earlier Wednesday that the Orioles' lineups for the final week of spring training would be stocked with regulars, so Gutierrez's absence against the Rays is noteworthy in what appears to be a good representation of Baltimore's Opening Day lineup. Now on the bench for the third time in the Orioles' last four games, Gutierrez may have ceded the top job at the hot corner to Ramon Urias, who has picked up more reps at the position with Jorge Mateo making a strong claim for the shortstop gig.

Orioles' Kelvin Gutierrez: Homers in loss
Gutierrez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-4 loss to Toronto.
The third baseman got Baltimore on the board and sparked a four-run eighth inning with his solo shot. Gutierrez hasn't shown much pop with just three homers through 287 plate appearances this season. He's added a .227/.289/.314 slash line with 20 RBI, 23 runs scored, three triples and eight doubles. He's played consistently since Ramon Urias (groin) and Jorge Mateo (back) were shut down for the year.

Orioles' Kelvin Gutierrez: Homers in win
Gutierrez went 2-for-3 with a single, a home run and two RBI in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Rangers.
The light-hitting Gutierrez connected on just his second homer of the season Saturday night, and it could not have come at a better time for the Orioles. Having just taken the lead and with Rangers starter Jordan Lyles on the ropes, Gutierrez landed the knockout blow with a two-run shot that ended up being the difference in the game. The 27-year-old pushed his hitting streak to four games and is now batting .333 in his last 10 games.

Orioles' Kelvin Gutierrez: Sticking in everyday role
Gutierrez will start at third base and bat eighth Wednesday against the Yankees.
He'll stick in the lineup for an 11th straight game after slashing .242/.306/.333 with five RBI and three runs over the Orioles' prior 10 contests. Though Gutierrez isn't making much of an impact at the plate, he likely gained some extra job security Tuesday, when Jorge Mateo (back) was shut down for the season.

Gutierrez went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 9-8 win over Kansas City.
Playing against his former team, the third baseman hit a two-run single in the middle of Baltimore's eighth inning rally. He came around to score on an error. Gutierrez has hit just .222 in 15 games since he was brought up from Triple-A Norfolk on Aug. 24. He's seen playing time with Ramon Urias (upper leg) out since Sunday, though Urias did make a pinch-hitting appearance in Wednesday's contest.

Orioles' Kelvin Gutierrez: Starting for banged-up Urias
Gutierrez will start at third base and bat ninth Wednesday against the Royals, Dan Connolly of The Athletic reports.
After going 2-for-9 with an RBI across the past three games, Gutierrez will stick in the lineup for the fourth contest in a row. So long as Ramon Urias' sore upper leg doesn't force him to the injured list, however, Gutierrez won't have a clear path to an everyday role.

Orioles' Kelvin Gutierrez: Playing regularly at hot corner
Gutierrez will start at third base and bat eighth Sunday against the Rays.
Gutierrez will draw his fifth consecutive start at the hot corner, but it's unclear if he'll continue to handle an everyday role heading into the upcoming week now that Jorge Mateo is healthy again. Before returning to the lineup for Saturday's 4-3 loss, Mateo had missed the previous three contests with left hip and lower-back soreness. Mateo and Ramon Urias -- who is resting Sunday -- both appear to be locked into everyday roles in the infield, likely leaving Gutierrez and Jahmai Jones to fight over the remaining spot in the lineup in most games.

Orioles' Kelvin Gutierrez: Joins big-league roster
Gutierrez was recalled by the Orioles on Monday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Gutierrez could see time at third base down the stretch after Maikel Franco was designated for assignment. While anyone with a regular role in a hitter-friendly park like Camden Yards is at least theoretically interesting in deeper leagues, it's tough to get excited about Gutierrez, who's hitting just .209/.256/.278 in 46 major-league games this season and .254/.288/.421 in 34 Triple-A contests.

Orioles' Kelvin Gutierrez: Sent down Thursday
Gutierrez was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Gutierrez had the chance to carve out a role recently with Maikel Franco (ankle) sidelined, but he's gone just 1-for-13 with two RBI, a run, a walk and six strikeouts across the last four games. Franco began a rehab assignment with the Orioles' Florida Complex League team Tuesday, but Pat Valaika and Domingo Leyba could see increased time at the hot corner if Franco isn't cleared to return Friday.
