Guardians' Angel Martinez: Heading to injured list
Martinez (foot) will be placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, reports Cade Cracas of Sports Illustrated.
After suffering a left foot bruise, which is now deemed to be a fracture, Saturday and sitting out Sunday's matinee, Martinez will be placed on the 10-day IL. Prior to his injury, Martinez batted .239/.276/.442 with 11 homers and 33 RBI this season. Petey Halpin was recalled from Triple-A Columbus to take Martinez's spot on the active roster.

Guardians' Angel Martinez: Sitting Sunday with bruised foot
Martinez (foot) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
The outfielder sustained a left foot bruise in the Guardians' 3-1 win Saturday, when he fouled a pitch off himself. Martinez had X-rays come back negative, and manager Stephen Vogt suggested that the 24-year-old could be available off the bench Sunday, per Stebbins. With an off day on tap Monday, the Guardians have optimism that Martinez will be back in the lineup for Tuesday's series opener in Milwaukee.

Guardians' Angel Martinez: X-rays on foot return negative
Martinez had X-rays come back negative and was diagnosed with a bruised left foot Saturday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Martinez was pulled from Saturday's matchup against Detroit due to the injury, which occurred when he fouled a ball off his foot in the first inning. The fact that he initially stayed in the game bodes well for his likelihood of avoiding of a long-term absence, as does the negative X-rays. Still, it's too early to tell whether Martinez will need to miss additional time.

Guardians' Angel Martinez: Exits with possible foot injury
Martinez was removed from Saturday's contest against the Tigers due to an apparent foot injury, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Martinez fouled a ball off his left foot during his at-bat in the first inning. He initially stayed in the game but was replaced in left field by Steven Kwan to begin the third frame. Martinez became the second Cleveland outfielder to be removed from Saturday's contest -- Chase DeLauter had to exit for a pinch runner due to an apparent side injury in the first inning. Updates on both players should come after they are evaluated by the Guardians' training staff.

Guardians' Angel Martinez: Leads off with bang
Martinez batted leadoff and went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 8-4 loss to the Yankees.
Martinez got it started in the first inning, hammering the second pitch he saw for his 11th home run of the season and second during the three-game set against New York. Those 11 homers (in 64 games) tie Martinez's career high, which he set last season across 139 regular-season games. The streaky hitter has hit in four consecutive games, going 6-for-18 with two home runs and four RBI.

Guardians' Angel Martinez: Reaches 10 homers
Martinez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in an extra-inning loss to the Yankees on Monday.
Martinez gave Cleveland its first and only lead in the sixth inning with a two-run, 414-foot homer off Paul Blackburn. The long ball snapped a 17-game homer drought for the 24-year-old, who batted a meager .156 during that span. Despite that recent slump and an aversion to taking walks (he has just seven through 228 plate appearances), Martinez has managed to carve out some fantasy value thanks to his 10 homers and nine stolen bases on the campaign.

Guardians' Angel Martinez: Not starting Friday
Martinez is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Rangers.
With Martinez getting the night off from the starting nine, Daniel Schneemann is making the start in center field, and Kyle Manzardo is at designated hitter with Rhys Hoskins manning first base. Over his last 13 games, Martinez is hitting just .140 with a .360 OPS across 51 plate appearances.

Guardians' Angel Martinez: Rejoining lineup
Martinez (foot) is starting in right field and batting fifth Tuesday against the Yankees, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Martinez strained his right foot during Saturday's game against the Red Sox, but the injury apparently isn't much of a concern since he's back in the lineup a couple days later. After a hot start to the season that saw him close out April with a .792 OPS, the 24-year-old ended May in the midst of a 4-for-29 slump.

Guardians' Angel Martinez: Day-to-day with foot strain
Guardians president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti said Sunday that Martinez has been diagnosed with a right foot strain following an MRI, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Though Martinez will be held out of the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale versus the Red Sox, the Guardians view the diagnosis as a good outcome for the 24-year-old, and he could be available off the bench Sunday. With an off day on tap Monday, Martinez might be ready to rejoin the starting nine for Tuesday's series opener versus the Yankees.

Guardians' Angel Martinez: Not in Sunday's lineup
Martinez (foot) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.
The 24-year-old departed Saturday's contest due to left foot inflammation, and it's not a major surprise he's sitting Sunday after being sent for an MRI -- the results of which remain unclear. Martinez will also have Monday's team off day to rest up. David Fry, Stuart Fairchild and Chase DeLauter are starting in the outfield from left to right Sunday for Cleveland.

Guardians' Angel Martinez: Leaves game with foot inflammation
Martinez was removed from Saturday's game against the Red Sox with left foot inflammation, Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
It's unknown whether Martinez's foot will cause him to miss time beyond Saturday, but the Guardians will likely send him in for medical testing and should provide more information soon. Stuart Fairchild entered the game as Martinez's replacement and would be the favorite to pick up starts in the outfield during his possible absence.

Guardians' Angel Martinez: Contributes with bat, arm
Martinez went 1-for-4 with an RBI and had an outfield assist in Friday's 4-3 win over the Red Sox.
Martinez made an impact early in the game. He singled in the Guardians' third run in their four-run first inning and then gunned down Mickey Gasper at the plate an inning later. He's cooled off during the month of May (.225 average), but Martinez has maintained a run-producing bat and remains a regular in the starting lineup, either in left or right field. His 29 RBI and 19 extra-base hits are second on the club.

Martinez is slashing .266/.313/.496 with eight steals, 22 RBI and 21 runs scored across 153 plate appearances this year.

Guardians' Angel Martinez: Big day in Wednesday's win
Martinez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a second run scored and two stolen bases in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Angels.
Moved up to the leadoff spot, Martinez flashed his whole skill set as he drove the fourth pitch he saw from Reid Detmers into the left-field seats to put Cleveland up 1-0, and he later tormented the southpaw on the basepaths. Martinez has gone yard in back-to-back games and also has three stolen bases. On the season, he's slashing .260/.300/.473 with seven homers, eight steals, 17 runs and 19 RBI in 41 contests.
