  • Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Yields three runs in loss

Pallante (6-8) allowed three runs on six hits and five walks while striking out six over five innings, taking the loss Tuesday versus the Reds.

Pallante has issued five walks in back-to-back starts, and he's allowed multiple walks in each of his last nine starts. Over the longer span, he's given up 24 runs (23 earned) across 51 innings while surrendering just three home runs. Despite the command troubles, Pallante has maintained a 4.13 ERA with a 1.40 WHIP and 77:45 K:BB across 102.1 innings over 26 appearances (17 starts) in the majors this year. If the Cardinals stick with a six-man rotation into next week, Pallante is projected to make his next start at home versus the Pirates.

  • Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Struggles against Brewers

Pallante took the loss Monday against Milwaukee, allowing five runs on five hits and five walks with three strikeouts across five innings.

Pallante issued a season-high five walks Monday and failed to pitch into the sixth inning after doing so in four straight starts. It was his first time allowing multiple home runs in an appearance this season, giving up a three-run shot to Willy Adames in the first and a two-run homer to Rhys Hoskins in the fourth. Since the start of August, Pallante has a 4.11 ERA with a 22:17 K:BB across 35 innings. He's tentatively scheduled to face the Reds next time out.

  • Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Takes no-decision Wednesday

Pallante allowed two runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out three over 5.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Padres on Wednesday.

Pallante has not allowed more than two runs in any of his last four starts. In that span, he's given up seven runs (six earned) with a 17:10 K:BB across 25.1 innings. He's been effective as a starter this year, pitching to a 3.50 ERA over 82.1 innings across his 14 starts. Overall, he has a 3.80 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 68:35 K:BB through 92.1 innings. Steven Matz (back) may be an option for the Cardinals' rotation next week, but the team has considered moving to a six-man rotation in September, so Pallante may still be used as a starter to finish the campaign.

  • Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Sharp in sixth win

Pallante (6-6) picked up the win in Friday's 6-1 victory over the Twins, allowing one run on five hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out five.

It looked like it might be a short night for Pallante when four of the first five Minnesota batters reached base in the second inning, but the right-hander put out the fire and then didn't let another runner get into scoring position, retiring the last 13 batters he faced. Pallante has a 3.31 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 24:14 K:BB through 35.1 innings since the All-Star break, but with Lance Lynn (knee) closing in on a return from the IL, his time in the rotation could be drawing to a close. If he gets another turn, Pallante lines up to face the Padres at home next week.

  • Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Goes seven innings in win

Pallante (5-6) picked up the win over the Dodgers on Saturday, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over seven innings while striking out five.

Pallante held his own against a talented Dodgers lineup despite allowing the leadoff man to reach in four of his seven innings of work. The right-hander surrendered one run in the first and another in the fifth on a solo shot from Shohei Ohtani, but he was able to hang on for his fifth win of the season and his first since June 28 against the Reds. Pallante has now allowed three or fewer runs in four of his last five starts, though he's also walked multiple batters in five straight. In the month of August he holds a 4.15 ERA to go along with an 11:8 K:BB.

  • Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Just misses quality start

Pallante allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and four walks while striking out four batters over 5.2 innings in a no-decision against Kansas City on Saturday.

Pallante was clinging to a one-run lead entering the sixth inning and retired the first two batters in that frame before issuing a walk and surrendering a single. He was subsequently relieved by Ryan Fernandez, who promptly served up a Freddy Fermin single that tied the game and eliminated Pallante from contention for a victory. Despite issuing a season-high four walks, Pallante bounced back pretty well from the five-run, 4.2-frame clunker he put up in his previous start, and he'll likely remain in the rotation until Lance Lynn (knee) is ready to return -- though that might not be very far off.

  • Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Gives up five runs in loss

Pallante (4-6) took the loss Monday against the Mets, allowing five runs on five hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out two.

Pallante worked in and out of trouble over the first four frames Monday, giving up only one run before running into a buzzsaw in the fifth that was capped by a three-run double by Tyrone Taylor. Pallante has pitched well since joining the rotation in late May, posting a 3.61 ERA over 52.1 frames covering 10 starts, but Monday's outing was his fourth start in that span in which he allowed four runs or more. He should get more opportunities to start as long as Lance Lynn remains out, but his days as a starter could end when Lynn returns to the fold.
