  • Phillies' Ryan Cusick: Remains in organization

The Phillies outrighted Cusick to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Monday. Cusick passed through waivers after being booted off the Phillies' 40-man roster and will remain in the organization. The right-hander has yet to see any action in the majors and has allowed 21 runs over 21.2 innings at the Triple-A level in 2025.

  • Phillies' Ryan Cusick: Designated for assignment

The Phillies designated Cusick for assignment Saturday, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Cusick will surrender his spot on the Phillies' 40-man roster to make room for Brewer Hicklen, who was acquired from Detroit on Saturday. Cusick, 25, owns an 8.34 ERA and 1.94 WHIP through 22.2 innings in Triple-A this season, making it likely he clears waivers.

  • Phillies' Ryan Cusick: Claimed, optioned by Philadelphia

The Phillies claimed Cusick off waivers from the White Sox on Sunday and optioned him to their rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate. Cusick has been riding a roller coaster between organizations of late -- he was designated for assignment by the Athletics on May 27 and claimed by Detroit three days later, only to be DFA'd by the Tigers before the White Sox claimed him June 4. Chicago subsequently DFA's the right-hander again Friday, and he's now been picked up by the Phillies. Cusick has yet to pitch in the majors, and he's posted a 6.32 ERA, 1.85 WHIP and 11:14 K:BB over 15.2 innings across stops with two Triple-A teams so far this season.

  • White Sox's Ryan Cusick: Designated for assignment

The White Sox designated Cusick for assignment on Friday. Cusick was claimed off waivers by Chicago earlier in the week but has been dumped from the 40-man roster before even making an appearance with Triple-A Charlotte. The right-hander has a 6.32 ERA and 11:14 K:BB across 15.2 innings at the Triple-A level this year.

  • White Sox's Ryan Cusick: Claimed by White Sox

The White Sox claimed Cusick off waivers from the Tigers on Wednesday and optioned him to Triple-A Charlotte. Cusick has struggled at the Triple-A level this season, posting a 6.32 ERA and 11:14 K:BB over 15.2 innings. However, the 25-year-old was a first-round pick back in 2021, so the White Sox will see if they can coax more out of him.

  • Athletics' Ryan Cusick: Moves to minor-league camp

The Athletics optioned Cusick to Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday. Cusick was one of 13 players the Athletics reassigned or optioned to minor-league camp Monday in the club's latest round of roster cuts. The Athletics added the 25-year-old right-hander to their 40-man roster in November following a 2024 season in which he compiled a 4.66 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 66:40 K:BB over 63.2 innings across three minor-league stops. Cusick made 28 of his 31 appearances at Double-A Midland in 2024, but he should see the bulk of his innings with Las Vegas during the upcoming season.

  • Athletics' Ryan Cusick: Added to 40-man roster

The Athletics selected Cusick's contract from Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Cusick didn't have a great 2024 season, posting a 4.90 ERA and 65:37 K:BB over 60.2 frames between Double-A Midland and Las Vegas. The 25-year-old did pitch better after being moved to the bullpen in the second half (2.78 ERA, 35:18 K:BB in 32.1 innings), and it would appear his future is as a reliever.

  • Athletics' Ryan Cusick: Rejoins Midland

Cusick (oblique) is scheduled to start Wednesday for Double-A Midland after being activated from the 7-day injured list a day earlier. Cusick is making his first appearance for Midland since May 25 after an extended absence due to an oblique strain. The right-hander made a two-inning rehab start Aug. 9 in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League prior to being reinstated from the IL.

  • Athletics' Ryan Cusick: Begins rehabbing in rookie ball

Cusick (oblique) began a rehab assignment with the Athletics' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate Tuesday, covering two innings and striking out three while allowing two earned runs on three hits and zero walks. Cusick's appearance in the ACL was his first at any level since May 25. The 22-year-old right-hander should eventually settle back into the rotation at Double-A Midland, with whom he posted an 8.13 ERA and 2.28 WHIP in 27.2 innings this season before going down with the oblique injury.

  • Athletics' Ryan Cusick: Moved in Olson deal

Cusick was traded from Atlanta to Oakland along with Shea Langeliers, Cristian Pache and Joey Estes in exchange for Matt Olson on Monday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. A big 6-foot-6 righty whom Atlanta selected with the No. 24 overall pick in last year's draft, Cusick comes with some bullpen risk, but it's hard to overlook the fact that he struck out over 50 percent of the batters he faced in 16.1 innings at Low-A. He may take longer to reach the majors now that he is on a rebuilding club that can be patient with his development.
