Mattison is working his way back from UCL reconstruction surgery and is moving in the right direction. The team doesn't expect the right-hander to be ready for game action until June, but his status will be worth monitoring as he clears obstacles in his rehab.

The Tigers selected Mattison from Double-A Erie on Tuesday.
Mattison did not pitch in 2024 due to having UCL reconstruction surgery in March. He is currently expected to return next season, but not until June. His most recent appearances came with Double-A Erie in 2023, where he posted a 1.62 ERA across 22 appearances. The 25-year-old is now protected from the Rule 5 Draft.

Mattison underwent UCL reconstruction surgery Friday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Mattison was a fourth-round pick by the Tigers in the 2021 first-year player draft. The right-hander posted a 1.62 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 46:18 K:BB over 33.1 innings with Double-A Erie last season.
