Parrish signed a minor-league contract Friday with Atlanta, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports. Parrish struggled to a 6.54 ERA in 117 innings this past season between the Double-A and Triple-A affiliates of the Royals, but he's had success at those same levels in the past and is only 25 years old. • Royals' Drew Parrish: Moving up to Triple-A

Parrish was promoted from Double-A Northwest Arkansas to Triple-A Omaha on Friday. Parrish was named the Texas League Pitcher of the Month for May, posting a 1.17 ERA and 0.65 WHIP in five starts, so this is a well-earned move. The 24-year-old has a 2.45 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 47:14 K:BB across 55 innings overall at the Double-A level, and he'll look to continue that success in Omaha, where he'll be just one call away from the majors.

  • Royals' Drew Parrish: Top honors in Texas League

Parrish was named the Texas League Pitcher of the Week after tossing seven innings of two-hit ball Saturday versus Springfield. He walked one and struck out four. Parrish has emerged as a reliable starter for Double-A Northwest Arkansas with a 2.61 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 24:8 K:BB across 31 innings this season. That's an improvement from last year, when he posted a 3.36 ERA and 1.08 WHIP across 83 innings. The southpaw still has a bit more to prove, but continued success could see him move up to Triple-A Omaha within a year.
