  • Phillies' Grant Holman: Shelved at Triple-A

Triple-A Lehigh Valley placed Holman on its 7-day injured list May 30 due to an unspecified injury. After claiming Holman off waivers from the Tigers on May 7, the Phillies optioned him to Triple-A. Before landing on the shelf, he made five relief appearances for Lehigh Valley and turned in a 7.11 ERA, 1.97 WHIP and 12:3 K:BB in 6.1 innings.

  • Diamondbacks' Grant Holman: Booted off 40-man roster

The Diamondbacks designated Holman for assignment Wednesday. Holman was pushed off the 40-man roster with Arizona needing to clear three spots for infielder Ildemaro Vargas and right-handers Jonathan Loaisiga and Joe Ross, all of whom will be included on the Opening Day squad. Arizona previously scooped up the 25-year-old Holman off waivers from the Athletics in February after he turned in a 5.09 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 17:9 K:BB over 23 big-league innings last season.

  • Athletics' Grant Holman: Designated for assignment

The Athletics designated Holman (finger/shoulder) for assignment Tuesday. Holman and Mitch Spence will both lose their places on the 40-man roster to make room for new signees Scott Barlow and Aaron Civale. Holman posted a 5.09 ERA and 1.52 WHIP over 23 innings with the A's in 2025 before suffering a season-ending finger injury in June. It's unclear where he stands in his recovery, but he now seems likely to open the new season in the minor leagues.

  • Athletics' Grant Holman: Shifted to 60-day injured list

The Athletics transferred Holman (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Tuesday. The transaction frees up a spot on the Athletics' 40-man roster for outfielder Carlos Cortes, who had his contract selected before he was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas. Holman has already missed nearly a month of action with right rotator cuff tendinitis and won't be eligible for activation until mid-August.

  • Athletics' Grant Holman: Sent back to Triple-A

The Athletics optioned Holman to Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday. Holman hadn't pitched since last Wednesday, when he was dinged for three runs without recording an out. He's clearing out to make room on the roster for the return of J.T. Ginn (quadriceps) from the 15-day injured list.

  • Athletics' Grant Holman: Serving as opener Monday

Holman will be the Athletics' opening pitcher for Monday's game against the Angels, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. It's the second time this month that Holman has served in an opener capacity. He's expected to be followed by Jeffrey Springs in bulk relief.

  • Athletics' Grant Holman: Recalled to majors

The Athletics recalled Holman from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday. Holman and southpaw Hogan Harris will bolster the A's bullpen after Jacob Lopez was optioned to Triple-A and Jose Leclerc (lat) was placed on the 15-day injured list. Holman hasn't yielded a run over nine innings of work in Las Vegas, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out nine. He appeared in 18 games for the Athletics in 2024 and finished with a 4.02 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 16:9 K:BB in 15.2 innings.

  • Athletics' Grant Holman: Sent to Triple-A

The Athletics optioned Holman to Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday. Holman allowed two earned runs and didn't issue any walks over six innings during Cactus League play, but the fact that he had minor-league options remaining likely worked against him in his bid for a spot in the Opening Day bullpen. The 24-year-old righty received his first taste of the big leagues in 2024, posting a 4.02 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 16:9 K:BB in 15.2 innings over 18 appearances for the Athletics.

  • Athletics' Grant Holman: Takes first loss Thursday

Holman (0-1) was charged with a blown save and took the loss to the Reds on Thursday, allowing three runs on three hits, two walks and a wild pitch without retiring a batter. After loading the bases to open the final frame and try to protect a 9-7 lead, Holman surrendered back-to-back run-scoring singles to Tyler Stephenson and TJ Friedl, the latter sealing a three-run rally for the Reds. Prior to Thursday, Holman had allowed just a single earned run across four innings over his first five big-league appearances following his Aug. 17 promotion from Triple-A Las Vegas.

  • Athletics' Grant Holman: Headed to majors

The Athletics selected Holman's contract from Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday. The 24-year-old reliever has a 0.92 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and a 30:13 K:BB with four wins and three saves in 29.1 innings over 23 appearances in the Pacific Coast League. Holman, a righty, won't be unseating Mason Miller in the ninth inning, but he could soon establish himself as one of Oakland's most promising relievers.
