Phillies' Luis Arraez: Ruled out for wild-card round
Rotowire
Phillies interim manager Don Mattingly said Monday that Arraez (ankle) will not be included on the National League Wild Card series roster, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
Arraez suffered a left ankle sprain last Thursday while trying to avoid a tag at first base, and he has yet to resume baseball activities. It's possible he will return to play at some point if the Phillies advance, but Arraez's health status for the time being is very much up in the air. Otto Kemp will take Arraez's spot on the Phillies' roster.

Phillies' Luis Arraez: Not ruled out for pinch hitting
Rotowire
Phillies interim manager Don Mattingly said that Arraez (ankle) has improved enough to potentially be used as a pinch hitter during Sunday's game versus the Rays, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
Arraez has not taken any swings since suffering a left ankle sprain Thursday, so an appearance off the bench Sunday seems unlikely. However, with the Phillies still trying to lock in their playoff berth, anything is on the table. Bryson Stott is playing second base for the Phillies on Sunday.

Phillies' Luis Arraez: Diagnosis 'not a great one'
Rotowire
Phillies interim manager Don Mattingly said Friday that the diagnosis on Arraez's left ankle sprain was "not a great one," Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
X-rays on Arraez's ankle came back negative, but additional imaging confirmed a sprain. While Mattingly did not provide a grade on the sprain, he noted that the second baseman remains stiff and sore. The Phillies will hold off on placing Arraez on the 10-day injured list -- which would rule him out until at least Game 3 of the NLDS -- but could make a roster move if Arraez's condition doesn't improve in the coming days. Bryson Stott has shifted back to second base, and Edmundo Sosa is starting at third base for the Phillies on Friday versus the Rays.

Phillies' Luis Arraez: On move to Philly
Rotowire
The Phillies acquired Arraez and right-hander Caleb Kilian from the Giants on Monday in exchange for right-handers Ramon Marquez and Marty Gair, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
The addition of a high-contact bat in Arraez -- who leads the National League with a .324 average -- lengthens a Philadelphia lineup that includes three other All-Stars in Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber and Brandon Marsh. Arraez had mainly been limited to first base and designated hitter the previous two seasons, but he's transitioned back to an everyday role at second base in 2026 and has made tremendous strides as a defender after receiving poor marks for his fielding and range at the keystone earlier in his career. The 29-year-old will presumably continue to see most of his reps at second base in Philadelphia, where he'll unseat Bryson Stott as the primary option at the position. In order to accommodate Arraez while still keeping playing time open for their other established regulars, the Phillies could look to move Stott, Alec Bohm and/or Bryce Harper to different positions.
