Perdomo suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee in early April, but after roughly two months of recovery and a seven-game rehab assignment, he's ready to return to Arizona's lineup. The 24-year-old infielder went 3-for-22 with four RBI during his assignment, playing three games in the Arizona Complex League and four games with Triple-A Reno. Despite his struggles, he figures to start regularly at shortstop for the D-backs. Pavin Smith was optioned to Reno in a corresponding move.
The Diamondbacks are expected to activate Perdomo (knee) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM reports.
Perdomo has been sidelined since early April following surgery on his right meniscus, but he's ready to rejoin the big club after seven rehab games, the last four of which came at Triple-A Reno. Perdomo was cleared for at-bats in the Arizona Complex League over the weekend, and the club has since determined that he's ready to face stronger competition. He'll likely play at least a few games at Triple-A before being activated from the 10-day injured list.
Perdomo (knee) has started to take live at-bats, hit in the cages and field ground balls, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reports.
Perdomo, who's putting in five-to-seven hours per day while rehabbing at Salt River Fields, expressed optimism that he'll return by the end of the month. Arizona manager Torey Lovullo is not ready to put a timeline on the shortstop's return, but acknowledged Perdomo looks good executing the work he's currently doing. Next up, per the manager, is getting spikes on Perdomo's feet and having him run, cut, make turns and the agility to start and stop.
