  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Back in action Thursday

Clement (hip) will start at shortstop and bat second Thursday against the Rangers. Left hip soreness forced Clement to miss four starts in the past six games, but he was able to appear as a pinch hitter Wednesday and will now return to the starting nine for Thursday's series opener. The 30-year-old infielder has fallen into a cold spell at the plate recently, going just 2-for-19 with a walk and a run scored across his last six games.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Sitting again with hip issue

Clement (hip) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros. Clement will be relegated to the bench for a second straight game while he tends to a sore left hip, which previously kept him out of the lineup for two games over the weekend. Luis Urias will pick up another start at the keystone Wednesday while Clement receives further maintenance for his hip.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Hip remains bothersome

Clement is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Astros to manage his sore left hip, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports. Clement sat out of Friday's and Saturday's contests due to the injury before rejoining the lineup Monday and being scheduled to start Sunday, before that game was postponed. Manager John Schneider said he's "trying to get ahead of [the injury]" and provide the infielder some rest Tuesday since it's an afternoon game coming off a night game. Clement is still expected to be available off the bench while Luis Urias picks up a start at second base.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Overcomes hip injury

Clement (hip) had been slated to start at shortstop and bat sixth Sunday against the Cubs before the game was postponed due to inclement weather in Chicago. Clement was held out of the starting nine the previous two games due to left hip soreness, but the injury doesn't look as though it will be a concern for the infielder heading into a seven-game week. Clement made an appearance off the bench in Saturday's 8-6 win, playing three innings at shortstop while going 0-for-2.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Idle Saturday

Clement (hip) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Cubs. Clement will miss a second consecutive start Saturday due to hip soreness. The 30-year-old had been playing through his injury for a while prior to sitting out Friday's game, though he may have to spend time on the injured list if he doesn't rejoin the lineup within the next couple of days. Davis Schneider will start at second base and bat seventh Saturday.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Nursing hip soreness

Clement is out of the lineup for Friday's game versus the Cubs in part due to lingering left hip soreness, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports. It's something Clement has been playing through for a while, and the Blue Jays finally found an opportune time to rest the infielder amidst a 16-day stretch with no off days. Clement should be considered day-to-day. Davis Schneider is handling second base Friday.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Rare day off Friday

Clement is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Cubs. It marks the first time since May 19 that Clement has been provided with a day of rest. The Blue Jays will roll with Davis Schneider at second base as they kick off a series on the north side of Chicago.

Clement went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's loss to the Phillies. The 30-year-old infielder took Cristopher Sanchez deep in the fifth inning, providing the last bit of offense in a 5-2 loss. Clement has two homers in the last three games and four multi-hit performances in the first seven games of June, boosting his slash line on the season to .309/.328/.473 with seven home runs, two steals, 26 RBI and 31 runs in 66 contests.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Powers offense in win

Clement went 2-for-4 with a triple, a three-run home run and three total runs scored in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Orioles. Clement gave the Blue Jays a lead they wouldn't relinquish with a three-run blast in the third inning. The 30-year-old saw his seven-game hitting streak come to an end Friday, but he has still opened June by going 8-for-21 through five contests. For the season, he's slashing .306/.327/.464 with six homers, 25 RBI, 29 runs scored and two steals across 257 plate appearances.

For the season, he is slashing .298/.323/.452 with two steals, five home runs, 20 RBI and 22 runs over 217 plate appearances. Clement leads the American League with 17 doubles while ranking second in hits and seventh in batting average.

The 30-year-old is in the midst of a modest five-game hitting streak that includes five extra-base hits, four RBI and four runs scored. For the year, he's slashing .297/.323/.432 with three homers, 16 RBI, 20 runs scored and two stolen bases across 201 plate appearances.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Hits three-run homer in loss

Clement went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run, four RBI, one walk and two runs scored in Monday's 7-6 loss to the Yankees. Following back-to-back singles from Vladimir Guerrero and Kazuma Okamoto to lead off the top of the fourth inning, Clement took Ryan Weathers deep for a two-out, three-run shot to give the Blue Jays a 3-1 lead. He later drove in a fourth run with a fielder's choice groundout. After failing to homer in the first 29 games of the season, Clement has three homers over his last 17 contests. He's now slashing .283/.309/.406 with the three long balls, 16 RBI, 18 runs scored, one stolen base and a 7:15 BB:K across 188 plate appearances this season.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Five-hit effort against Halos

Clement went 5-for-5 with a home run, three runs scored and two RBI in Saturday's 14-1 rout of the Angels. Six different Blue Jays recorded multiple knocks as part of a 20-hit barrage, but Clement paced the team with his second career five-hit performance. His solo shot in the seventh inning was Clement's second homer of the season, and through 38 games he's slashing .299/.319/.422 with one steal, 12 RBI and 14 runs.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Three hits in Wednesday's loss

Clement went 3-for-5 with an RBI in Wednesday's loss to the Angels. The 30-year-old infielder extended his hitting streak to seven games, but Wednesday's RBI was actually his first during that stretch despite hitting .400 (12-for-30). Clement doesn't offer much more than a strong batting average for fantasy purposes, posting a .320/.327/.420 slash line through 24 contests on the season with 10 doubles, zero homers, one steal, six RBI and eight runs.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Three knocks in Sunday's loss

Clement went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in Sunday's loss to the Twins. Moved up to the leadoff spot for the first time this season with George Springer (toe) out of action, Clement did an impressive job setting the table and scored Toronto's only two runs on the afternoon. The 30-year-old second baseman is slashing .311/.323/.393 through 15 games with five doubles, four RBI, five runs and a steal, and he could get a long look at the top of the order while Springer is sidelined.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Two more hits in Wednesday's loss

Clement went 2-for-4 in Wednesday's loss to the Rockies. The 30-year-old has had a quick start to the year, going 8-for-25 (.320) through six games with three doubles, two RBI and one run. Clement is shifting from a super-utility role to being the Blue Jays' everyday starter at second base this season, but so far that adjustment hasn't impacted him at the plate.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Bangs out two doubles Friday

Clement went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in Friday's win over the A's. It was a strong start to the season for the 30-year-old infielder, who's expected to be Toronto's everyday second baseman now that Andres Gimenez is sliding over to shortstop to replace Bo Bichette. Clement posted a respectable .277/.313/.398 slash line in 2025 with nine homers and six steals in 157 regular-season games while bouncing all around the infield, but having a stable defensive home could allow him to find another level at the plate.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Swipes bag Sunday

Clement went 1-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Rays. Getting the start at second base and batting second, Clement swiped third base in the fourth inning after a leadoff single, his first stolen base of the spring. After being deployed as a super-utility player in 2025 and playing at least 15 games at all four infield positions, the 30-year-old will get a crack at the full-time job at the keystone this season on the heels of a .277/.313/.398 slash line with nine homers and six steals in 157 contests.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Dodges arbitration

Clement signed a one-year, $4.6 million contract with the Blue Jays on Thursday to avoid arbitration, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports. Clement slashed .277/.313/.398 with 50 RBI and 83 runs scored over 588 plate appearances in the 2025 regular season before batting an absurd .411 with nine RBI and scoring 13 runs during Toronto's postseason run, which fell just one game short of a World Series title. The 29-year-old will receive a $2.63 million raise as a reward for his efforts and will likely spend most of his time at second base in 2026 following the Jays' acquisition of third baseman Kazuma Okamoto during the offseason.

Since Sept. 1, Clement has slashed .286/.321/.416 with two steals, 14 runs, 10 doubles and nine RBI across 82 plate appearances.
