Twins' Bailey Ober: Racks up 12 punchouts Wednesday
Ober allowed two runs on four hits and no walks while striking out 12 batters over seven innings in a no-decision against Cleveland on Wednesday.
Ober tallied 17 whiffs while demonstrating excellent command by throwing 70 of 101 pitches for strikes. The only negative aspect of his performance is that two of the four hits against him left the park, which played a part in preventing him from emerging with a victory. Nonetheless, Ober picked up his third quality start across his past five outings, and in those trio of quality starts he's surrendered just six hits while allowing only three runs and posting a 27:3 K:BB across 20 frames. It should be mentioned, though, that in the two other starts during that five-game span, Ober has struggled, yielding 14 runs with an 8:4 K:BB over 8.2 frames.

Twins' Bailey Ober: Fades late in Friday's loss
Ober (12-7) took the loss Friday as the Twins fell 8-4 to the Reds, coughing up five runs on six hits and two walks over 6.2 innings. He struck out six.
The righty pitched well through six innings as the two teams battled to a 1-1 stalemate, but the wheels came off for Ober in the seventh as the first four Cincinnati batters reached base, starting with a Spencer Steer leadoff triple. Ober has gone six straight starts without recording a win, stumbling to a 5.35 ERA over that stretch despite a 1.07 WHIP and 31:10 K:BB through 33.2 innings. He'll try to reverse his fortunes in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Cleveland.

Twins' Bailey Ober: Strong start goes to waste
Ober allowed one hit and struck out seven without walking a batter over seven scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Royals on Saturday.
Ober was dominant, but Jhoan Duran and Griffin Jax melted down in the eighth inning to let the Royals steal one. Ober had thrown just 83 pitches (59 strikes) when he was pulled with the bottom half of the Royals' order due up in the eighth. While Ober's winless streak is at five starts, this was his fourth quality start in that span and his fifth scoreless outing of the year. He's now at a 3.77 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 162:39 K:BB through 155 innings over a career-high 27 starts. The 29-year-old's next start is projected to be at home versus the Reds.

Twins' Bailey Ober: Produces quality start Sunday
Ober allowed one run on one hit and three walks while striking out eight over six innings in Sunday's win over the Blue Jays. He did not factor into the decision.
Ober gave up a solo home run to Ernie Clement on the fifth pitch he threw of the day but otherwise dominated the Blue Jays. It was a huge bounce-back performance after he allowed a season-worst nine runs in his previous start. That's now 12 quality starts in his last 13 outings for Ober, and his strikeout numbers were up Sunday after managing only 10 strikeouts over his previous 14 innings. The 29-year-old owns a 3.95 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 155:39 K:BB in 148 innings and lines up to make his next start on the road against the Royals over the weekend.

Twins' Bailey Ober: Smoked by Atlanta
Ober (12-6) yielded nine runs on seven hits and two walks over two innings while taking a loss against Atlanta on Monday. He struck out two batters.
Ober was tagged with a three-run shot by Matt Olson in the first inning and a two-run homer by Travis d'Arnaud in the second. Entering Monday's start, Ober had given up nine total runs over his previous six outings, going 4-0 with a 2.02 ERA during that span. The last time he allowed more than six runs in a start was his season debut against the Royals on March 31. Ober saw his ERA jump from 3.54 to 4.06 after the rough outing. He'll look to get back on track in his next start, which is lined up to be at home against the Blue Jays.

Twins' Bailey Ober: Takes no-decision Tuesday
Ober did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's loss to the Padres, allowing three runs on four hits while striking out five over six innings. He did not issue a walk.
Ober surrendered an early run in the second inning but went on to retire 13 straight batters before Jake Cronenworth led off the seventh with a double. Manny Machado then abruptly ended Ober's night with a two-run homer to center to even up the game at 3-3 and ruin Ober's chances at getting the win. Ober has now posted 11 consecutive quality starts and ranks inside the top five in ERA (2.09) and WHIP (0.80) over that span. For the year, he's posted a 3.54 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 145:34 K:BB in 140 innings. He lines up for a home start against Atlanta to begin next week.
