Tigers' Jace Jung: Set for major-league debut Friday
The Tigers are expected to call up Jung from Triple-A Toledo ahead of Friday's game against the Yankees, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
After being selected in the first round of the 2022 First-Year Player Draft, Jung began his career in the Tigers organization as a second baseman before making the transition to third base during the 2023 Arizona Fall League. Though he's played both third base and second base at Toledo in 2024, he'll likely supplant Gio Urshela as the Tigers' preferred option at the hot corner as he makes the jump to the big leagues. Jung had been a standout performer at the plate for Toledo this season, slashing .257/.377/.454 with 14 home runs and 60 RBI over 414 plate appearances.
