Mets' Jett Williams: Shifted to minor-league camp
The Mets reassigned Williams to minor-league camp Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Following a 2024 season that saw Williams deal with wrist and ankle injuries, he appeared in seven Grapefruit League games this spring, going 2-for-11 with an RBI, a run scored and four walks. The 21-year-old prospect will most likely begin the 2025 campaign at Triple-A Syracuse and could crack the big leagues later this season if he can return to pre-injury form.

Mets' Jett Williams: Nets spring invite
The Mets have extended Williams an invitation to major-league camp during spring training.
Fellow top prospects Ryan Clifford and Brandon Sproat will join Williams on the big-league side of spring camp. Williams, 21, missed four months of the 2024 season due to wrist surgery and slashed only .215/.358/.298 with zero home runs and five steals in 33 games across three levels. However, Williams remains an intriguing dynasty option due to his on-base skills and speed. He's pegged for Triple-A Syracuse to begin the season, but a bounce-back year could have him pushing to debut sometime in 2025.

Mets' Jett Williams: Bumped up to Triple-A
The Mets promoted Williams from Double-A Binghamton to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday.
With Binghamton's season coming to a close Sunday, Williams will get his first taste of Triple-A during the upcoming week as he looks to pick up more at-bats while a wrist procedure has kept him out for much of the 2024 campaign. The shortstop prospect wrapped up his time at Double-A with a .528 OPS and five extra-base hits (four doubles, one triple) in 101 plate appearances.

Mets' Jett Williams: Completes rehab assignment
Double-A Binghamton activated Williams (wrist) from the 60-day injured list Friday.
Williams went four months between his injury and the beginning of his rehab assignment after needing a triangular fibrocartilage complex debridement procedure in his right wrist. The ever-patient shortstop hit .250 with four walks, three strikeouts, two steals and zero extra-base hits in five rehab games. Williams has proven to be an on-base machine (career .417 OBP), as he knows the strike zone very well, but he also has plus-plus speed and good bat speed at the plate, so he could turn into a five-category contributor once he matures and fills out.

Mets' Jett Williams: Kicking off rehab assignment
Williams (wrist) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Single-A St. Lucie on Wednesday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
For the first time in four months, Williams will appear in a game after a lengthy recovery from right wrist surgery. He had gotten off to a slow start to the season with Double-A Binghamton prior to getting hurt, batting just .179 with four extra-base hits and two stolen bases over 50 plate appearances, though he drew eight walks while striking out just five times. Given the length of his absence, Williams could remain on the rehab assignment through the weekend before potentially returning from Binghamton's 60-day injured list next week.

Mets' Jett Williams: Lengthy absence in store
Williams underwent a TFCC debridement procedure Thursday and is expected to require 8-to-10 weeks for recovery, Pat Ragazzo of SI.com reports.
In simpler terms, Williams was dealing with a tear in his right wrist and had a corrective procedure done to repair the tear. As Ragazzo notes, the typical timeline for recovery is 8-to-10 weeks, meaning Williams could be out until August. The 20-year-old was shut down April 21 with soreness in his wrist while playing at Double-A Binghamton after batting .179 across 50 plate appearances.

Mets' Jett Williams: Receives another cortisone shot
Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns revealed Tuesday that Williams has received another cortisone injection in his right wrist, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Williams was given his first injection in early May, but the shot evidently didn't have the desired effect. If the second injection is also ineffective, it's possible the young shortstop will require surgery, per Stearns. Williams was slashing just .179/.360/.308 for Double-A Binghamton before being placed on the 7-day injured list, though the wrist injury could have played a part in his struggles.

Mets' Jett Williams: Targeting late-May return
Williams (wrist) received a cortisone injection last week, and he won't begin swinging a bat again until it's fully taken effect, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
The 20-year-old prospect was shut down April 21 due to right wrist soreness and hasn't played since. Williams was struggling in his first look at Double-A pitching, slashing .179/.360/.308, but a wrist issue could help explain the poor performance. Per Mets senior vice president of player development Andy Green, the team is hoping Williams will be back in the lineup for Double-A Binghamton by the end of the month.

Mets' Jett Williams: Lands on Double-A IL
Williams has been placed on the 7-day injured list at Double-A Binghamton due to right wrist soreness, Michael Mayer of MetsmerizedOnline.com reports.
Williams hasn't played in more than a week due to the injury, and given that he's slashing just .180/.360/.308 in 11 games with Binghamton this season, it's possible it's been bothering him even longer. The 20-year-old top prospect has made starts at second base, shortstop and center field with Binghamton.

Mets' Jett Williams: Sent to minor-league camp
The Mets reassigned Williams to minor-league spring training Sunday, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
The 20-year-old has received reps at shortstop and in center field during the first couple weeks of big-league camp, but he'll shift to the minor-league side after the first round of roster cuts. Williams is the Mets' top prospect and should open 2024 at Double-A Binghamton after he split most of last season between the Single-A and High-A levels, where he had an .876 OPS in 410 at-bats.

Mets' Jett Williams: Will get reps in center
Williams will get work in big-league camp at both shortstop and center field, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
With Francisco Lindor signed through 2031, Williams will likely have to move off shortstop when he gets to the majors. The Mets also indicated the 20-year-old top prospect would not get reps at second base this spring, so it looks as though center field will be his eventual defensive home. "I don't really care," Williams said Friday. "Whatever gets me to the big leagues the fastest." In his first full professional season after being selected with the 14th overall pick in 2022, Williams slashed .263/.425/.451 in 121 games across three levels last year with 13 homers and 45 steals, finishing the campaign at Double-A Binghamton. He'll likely spend most of 2024 in the high minors, but a late-season debut in the majors would set him up to replace Harrison Bader in center for the Mets in 2025.
