Guardians' Chase DeLauter: Returns to field
DeLauter started in right field and went 1-for-3 with one RBI in Friday's spring game against the Angels.
DeLauter, who returned from lower-body soreness as the designated hitter earlier in the week, defended a position for the first time since being scratched from a game one week ago. Beyond left fielder Steven Kwan, the Guardians' outfield is unsettled, but DeLauter appears to be a lock, either in center or right field. He's hit safely in all four of his Cactus League games, going 6-for-11 with two doubles, one home run and four RBI.

Guardians' Chase DeLauter: Returns in style
DeLauter started at designated hitter and went 2-for-2 with a double and a two-run home run in Sunday's spring game against the Rockies.
DeLauter was back on the field after being scratched from a game last Wednesday due to lower-body soreness. The Guardians plan to be mindful of the workload placed on DeLauter, who has missed extended time in each of the last three seasons in the minors. He was removed after two plate appearances. In three Cactus League games, DeLauter is 5-for-8 with two doubles, one homer and three RBI.

DeLauter (lower body) will bat second as the designated hitter in Sunday's split-squad game against the Rockies, SI.com reports.
DeLauter has been held out of spring action since being scratched from Wednesday's lineup due to a lower-body injury, but he's ready to rejoin the lineup after starting up his running program Saturday. The 24-year-old made his MLB debut in the playoffs last season and is the early favorite to open 2026 as the starter in center field.

DeLauter (lower body) will resume running Saturday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
DeLauter was a late scratch from Wednesday's contest with a lower-body injury, but after a few days of rest, he's been cleared to start up a running program. The Guardians are hopeful that he'll return to Cactus League action within the next few days, so his Opening Day availability doesn't seem to be in jeopardy.

Guardians' Chase DeLauter: Scratched with lower-body injury
DeLauter was scratched from the lineup for Wednesday's Cactus League game against the Rangers due to lower-body soreness, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Per Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Guardians described DeLauter's removal from the starting nine as precautionary after the young outfielder experienced some soreness stemming from his heavy on-field activity to begin camp. Petey Halpin will draw the start in right field in DeLauter's stead Wednesday.

DeLauter has a chance to be an everyday outfielder and middle-of-the-order bat for the Guardians in 2026, but he'll need to stay healthy. Since being drafted in the first round in 2022, DeLauter has played just 138 regular-season games in the minors due to a variety of injuries. He played just 42 games last season due to core muscle surgery in March and right wrist surgery in July. When healthy, DeLauter has made an impact offensively, posting a .888 OPS during his career in the minors.
