  • Yankees' Spencer Jones: Getting the call

The Yankees are calling up Jones from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.

Jones's promotion comes to fill the void of Jasson Dominguez, who is heading to the injured list with a sprained AC joint. Jones, one of the Yankees' top prospects, has slashed .258/.366/.592 with 11 home runs, 41 RBI and seven stolen bases across 142 plate appearances for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on the season. The 24-year-old outfielder should figure to see some at-bats with both Dominguez and Giancarlo Stanton (calf) out with injuries.

  • Yankees' Spencer Jones: Concluding spring on high note

Jones went 2-for-2 with a pair of home runs and three total RBI in an exhibition loss to the Cubs on Monday.

Jones didn't start, but he still made a big splash after entering as a defensive replacement in the fifth inning. The young slugger belted a solo homer in his first plate appearance and added a two-run shot in his second. Jones leads the Yankees with six long balls and 11 RBI during the exhibition slate, and he's posted a sensational 1.621 OPS over 12 games. He'll begin the campaign at Triple-A, but there's a good chance he'll make his regular-season big-league debut at some point in 2026.

  • Yankees' Spencer Jones: Bound for Triple-A

The Yankees optioned Jones to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday.

Jones has had a big spring, going 6-for-18 with three home runs, three stolen bases and a 4:6 BB:K. There's no room for him in the Yankees outfield, however, and the 24-year-old also needs to continue working on making more contact after striking out at a 36.6 percent rate with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2025.

  • Yankees' Spencer Jones: In midst of another big spring

Through five Grapefruit League games, Jones is slashing .300/.417/1.200 with three home runs, six RBI, five runs and one stolen base.

Jones leads the Yankees in long balls this spring and ranks second in RBI. The young slugger had a similarly impressive exhibition slate last year, belting three home runs over 32 at-bats, though he also struck out 16 times. Jones has been a little better in that regard this spring with a 2:4 BB:K over 12 plate appearances, but it's likely that strikeouts will always be an issue for him. Jones was added to the 40-man roster in November after accumulating a .933 OPS with 35 homers, 80 RBI and 29 thefts across 506 plate appearances between Double-A Somerset and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2025. There's a good chance he'll make his MLB debut at some point this season, though it's likely he'll begin the campaign in Triple-A.

  • Yankees' Spencer Jones: Added to 40-man roster

The Yankees selected Jones' contract from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday.

Jones totaled 35 home runs and 29 steals with a .933 OPS between Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Double-A Somerset last year, though that was accompanied by a 35.3 percent strikeout rate. The 24-year-old is one of the organization's top prospects and could make his MLB debut in 2026, but he may have a difficult time cracking the lineup depending on how the Yankees' offseason unfolds.

  • Yankees' Spencer Jones: In position to help Yankees in 2026

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Thursday that Jones is "in the conversation" to be an everyday major-leaguer next season, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Jones slashed .274/.362/.571 with 35 home runs and 29 stolen bases between Double-A Somerset and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2025. However, he also had a 35.4 percent strikeout rate, and he finished with a .663 OPS over the final two months. With his power and speed, the fantasy upside with Jones is huge, but it's unlikely the Yankees will hand him a starting job right away next season, given his swing-and-miss concerns.
