  • Padres' Garrett Hawkins: Optioned to Triple-A

The Padres optioned Hawkins to Triple-A El Paso on Friday. Hawkins ended the 2025 season with Double-A San Antonio, where he appeared in 13 games and finished with a 1.69 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, two saves and a 20:10 K:BB across 16 innings. He'll open the 2026 season in Triple-A and could make his major-league debut if the Padres need added depth to their bullpen.

  • Padres' Garrett Hawkins: Sharp in 2025 debut

Hawkins (elbow) struck out four batters over two perfect innings in his season debut Saturday for High-A Fort Wayne. Making his first appearance since undergoing Tommy John surgery in August 2023, Hawkins was about as sharp as could be. He spotted 17 of his 24 pitches for strikes, induced five swings and misses and didn't allow a ball to leave the infield. The Padres will likely be conservative with his workload in 2025 coming off surgery, but Hawkins could move up to Double-A San Antonio quickly if he continues to shine in his subsequent appearances for Fort Wayne.
