It was just the second time Povich has worked as a bulk reliever this season, and he handled the role fairly well, notching a season-high 10 strikeouts and tallying an impressive 18 whiffs despite giving up three runs. Povich handled a typical starter's workload with 91 pitches (60 strikes), so it seems likely that he'll remain synched up with the rest of the rotation regardless of whether he returns to a traditional starting role or is used behind an opener again. He's lined up for a rematch against the Astros his next time out.

After firing three perfect innings in his previous rehab outing for High-A Aberdeen last Sunday, Povich was fairly sharp in his 62-pitch appearance for Norfolk. The left-hander is tracking toward a return from the injured list in late July or early August, although it's unclear if Baltimore will have a spot in its rotation available for him once he's activated. Trevor Rogers, who was recalled from the minor leagues to replace Povich when he got injured, has delivered a sparkling 1.53 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 32:10 K:BB over six starts with Baltimore and appears to have established himself as a fixture in the rotation moving forward.

It was an encouraging effort from the left-hander, after he'd given up 12 runs over 14.2 innings in his previous three starts.
