  • Red Sox's Mickey Gasper: Stepping out of lineup

Gasper is not in the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Orioles. Gasper had started the previous three games and six of the last eight tilts, but he'll take a seat for Thursday's matinee. Carlos Narvaez is doing the catching for the Red Sox in the rubber match.

  • Red Sox's Mickey Gasper: Knocks first triple

Gasper went 1-for-4 with a walk, a triple, two RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 8-1 win over Baltimore. Gasper took advantage of Orioles outfielder Blaze Alexander losing a ball in the twilight and reached third base for his first MLB triple and his first three-base hit at any level since 2022. He started at catcher for the fifth time in the last eight games and extended a hit streak to six consecutive contests. Gasper's been elevated to the primary backstop against right-handers and is 17-for-48 (.354) against them this season.

  • Red Sox's Mickey Gasper: Ascends to top of depth chart

Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy said Saturday that Gasper has emerged as the team's preferred option at catcher against right-handed pitching, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports. Following a May 7 promotion, Gasper initially saw most of his opportunities at designated hitter with Roman Anthony (finger/wrist) on the shelf. Masataka Yoshida and Andruw Monasterio have since settled into a platoon at DH, but Gasper has poached starts behind the plate from Carlos Narvaez and Connor Wong. Since his call-up, Gasper is slashing an impressive .340/.380/.404 across 51 plate appearances. With zero home runs or steals, eight runs and two RBI over 16 games, however, he isn't providing much fantasy value, and his batting average has been fueled by a .432 BABIP.

  • Red Sox's Mickey Gasper: Recalled from Triple-A

The Red Sox recalled Gasper from Triple-A Worcester on Thursday, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports. With Roman Anthony (wrist) headed for the IL, Gasper will come up from the minors to add depth to Boston's bench. The 30-year-old backstop owns a .445 OPS through 133 career plate appearances in the big leagues but has performed much better this year at Worcester, where he's slashed .295/.426/.524 over 27 games.

  • Red Sox's Mickey Gasper: Part of Monday's roster cuts

The Red Sox optioned Gasper to Triple-A Worcester on Monday. Boston also reassigned Matt Thaiss to minor-league camp as part of Monday's roster cuts, solidifying Carlos Narvaez and Connor Wong as the big club's two catchers heading into Opening Day. Gasper is kicking off his second stint with the Red Sox after previously spending his 2024 rookie campaign in Boston before he was traded to the Twins last offseason. He saw limited action at the big-league level for Minnesota in 2025, slashing .158/.257/.232 with two home runs, two stolen bases, 11 RBI and 15 runs in 45 games.

  • Red Sox's Mickey Gasper: Heading back to Boston

The Red Sox claimed Gasper off waivers from the Nationals on Wednesday. Gasper broke into the majors with the Red Sox in 2024 before spending the 2025 campaign with the Twins. He's slashed only .133/.250/.195 in 58 games between the two stops, but Gasper offers unique versatility with the ability to play catcher, first base, second base and left field. Gasper has minor-league options remaining, so he could begin the upcoming season at Triple-A Worcester.

  • Nationals' Mickey Gasper: Claimed off waivers by Nationals

The Nationals claimed Gasper off waivers from the Twins on Tuesday. Gasper had been booted off the Twins' 40-man roster, and he's now joining a new organization. The 30-year-old sports a lowly .133/.250/.195 batting line over 58 career games in the majors, but he can play catcher, first base, second base and left field and also has minor-league options remaining.

  • Twins' Mickey Gasper: Goes deep in win

Gasper went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored in Tuesday's win over Toronto. Gasper was 2-for-3 with a run scored before belting a clutch, game-tying shot in the ninth inning. It was his first career home run and his first hit since July 26. He entered Tuesday's game in an 0-for-26 slump before the three-hit performance. Gasper owns a .491 OPS through 77 MLB plate appearances this season.

  • Twins' Mickey Gasper: Drawing fourth straight start

Gasper will start at catcher and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Royals. Despite going 0-for-10 at the dish while starting each of the past three games at either first base or designated hitter, Gasper will stick in the lineup Sunday, this time filling in behind the plate while Ryan Jeffers serves as the Twins' DH. Gasper is likely to fade back into a reserve role once Matt Wallner (personal) returns from the paternity list in the next day or two.

  • Twins' Mickey Gasper: Shut down with foot injury

Triple-A St. Paul placed Gasper on its 7-day injured list Monday due to bilateral plantar fasciitis. The severity of Gasper's injury isn't clear, but the fact that he's battling plantar fasciitis on both feet suggests he'll likely be sidelined for more than the minimum seven days. Gasper has put up a porous .488 OPS over 39 plate appearances with the Twins this season, but he's crushed Triple-A pitching, slashing .318/.418/.609 with 10 home runs in 40 games for St. Paul.

  • Twins' Mickey Gasper: Called up as 27th man

The Twins recalled Gasper from Triple-A St. Paul to serve as the 27th man for Wednesday's doubleheader with the Guardians, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Gasper wasn't available for the resumption of Monday's suspended game earlier in the day, but he'll join the Twins for Wednesday's regularly scheduled contest before likely heading back to Triple-A. The utility infielder has logged 39 plate appearances with the Twins on the season and has slashed .176/.282/.206 with no home runs or stolen bases.

  • Twins' Mickey Gasper: Cracks Opening Day roster

Gasper said that he's fine after suffering a left ankle laceration in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Red Sox, and noted Monday that he has been told he made the Twins' Opening Day roster, Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports. Gasper received six stitches to seal the cut, which he suffered when he was spiked by teammate Brandon Winokur while attempting to field a groundball. The laceration is not expected to hinder him moving forward, and Gasper has earned a spot on the Opening Day roster after slashing .289/.404/.395 this spring. The switch hitter is capable of handling first base, second base and catcher.

Gasper received six stitches for a left ankle laceration after leaving Sunday's spring game against the Red Sox, Phil Miller of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports. • Red Sox's Mickey Gasper: Sent down to Triple-A

The Red Sox optioned Gasper to Triple-A Worcester on Saturday, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports. Gasper will give way to Trevor Story (shoulder) on the active roster as Story returns from the 60-day injured list. Gasper failed to log a hit in 16 plate appearances with the Red Sox but holds a 1.179 OPS at Triple-A.

  • Red Sox's Mickey Gasper: Added to roster

The Red Sox selected Gasper's contract from Triple-A Worcester, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports. Gasper has slashed .341/.458/.559 with 12 home runs this season between Double-A Portland and Worcester, splitting time primarily between catcher and first base. The 28-year-old's presence on the roster could allow the Red Sox to use their top two backstops, Connor Wong and Danny Jansen, in the same lineup more often.
