  • Cardinals' Andy Yerzy: Inks MiLB deal with St. Louis

The Cardinals signed Yerzy to a minor-league contract Wednesday.

Yerzy, 26, was released by the Reds earlier this month after going 1-for-6 in two games at Double-A Chattanooga. He will provide catching depth at Triple-A Memphis after Yohel Pozo was needed at the big-league level.

  • Brewers' Andy Yerzy: Catches on in Milwaukee

Yerzy signed a minor-league contract with the Brewers on Friday.

The 25-year-old began last season in the minors in the Reds organization but ended it in independent ball. Yerzy has never appeared in the majors and is merely organizational catching depth.

  • Reds' Andy Yerzy: Inks minors deal with Cincinnati

Yerzy signed a minor-league contract Thursday with the Reds.

A second-round pick of the Blue Jays in the 2016 MLB Draft out of a high school in the Toronto area, Yerzy holds a career .233/.330/.396 minor-league slash line. The 24-year-old will serve as organizational depth at catcher for Cincinnati in 2023.

  • Diamondbacks' Andy Yerzy: Homers twice for short-season squad

Yerzy went 4-for-5 with a pair of home runs for short-season Hillsboro in its 9-8 win over Salem-Keizer on Sunday.

The outburst ended a 6-for-48 skid at the plate over the last 14 games for Yerzy, who is viewed as the top catching prospect in the organization behind Daulton Varsho. Despite the recent drought, Yerzy is slashing .303/.382/.463 across 51 games in the Northwest League and looks on track to open the 2019 campaign with a full-season affiliate.

  • Diamondbacks' Andy Yerzy: Makes 2018 debut

Yerzy was assigned to short-season Hillsboro last week and has appeared in five games for the club, going 7-for-20 with a home run and three doubles.

The Diamondbacks had kept the 19-year-old catcher at extended spring training for the past two months, but he should play on a near-everyday basis now that the Northwest League season has gotten underway. Yerzy is regarded as the second-best catching prospect in the Arizona system behind Daulton Varsho (hand), though the latter's long-termed ceiling is perceived to be considerably higher.
