Solak was optioned by the Tigers on Friday after being claimed off waivers from Atlanta, but he didn't have to wait long before getting a chance with the big-league club. He joins the active roster with Akil Baddoo (quadriceps) hitting the injured list, though it's likely Kerry Carpenter will be the biggest beneficiary of Baddoo's absence.

  • Mariners' Nick Solak: Traded to Seattle

Solak was acquired by the Mariners in a trade with the Reds on Friday for cash considerations, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports. He'll report to Triple-A Tacoma. Solak was designated for assignment Thursday, and he finds a new home a day later. The 28-year-old showed promise with the bat early in his career, but he's struggled to the tun of a .246/.317/.354 slash in 839 plate appearances since 2020. He provides Seattle with some depth as a player who can play both in the infield and outfield.

  • Reds' Nick Solak: Booted off 40-man roster

The Reds designated Solak for assignment Thursday. Solak was a casualty of a series of roster moves ahead of the team's Opening Day game Thursday against the Pirates. • Reds' Nick Solak: Reassigned to minor-league camp

Solak was reassigned to minor-league spring training Saturday. Solak was acquired for cash considerations in November, but any hopes of him duplicating Brandon Drury's success from last season seems to have gone out the window with this move. Solak's career .252/.327/.372 slash line isn't good but is far from terrible, so if he does get a run of games for the Reds at some point, he could have fantasy value in at least deeper leagues. The fact that the Reds -- who don't exactly possess a roster packed with proven talent -- took him out of Opening Day consideration with nearly three weeks to go suggests his stock is quite low right now.

  • Reds' Nick Solak: Traded to Cincinnati

Solak (foot) was acquired by the Reds from the Rangers on Thursday in exchange for cash considerations. Solak appeared in only 35 games for the Rangers in 2022 before he suffered a fractured right foot in September. He has a .246/.317/.354 slash line in 749 plate appearances across the past three seasons and should compete for a utility role with Cincinnati during spring training.

  • Rangers' Nick Solak: Shifts to 60-day IL

Solak (foot) was placed on the 60-day injured list Wednesday. The 27-year-old will miss the rest of the season after he suffered a fractured right foot last week, and the Rangers have moved him to the 60-day IL to free up a spot on the 40-man roster for Kevin Plawecki, who signed with Texas on Wednesday. Solak played in 35 big-league games this year and finished with a .207/.309/.329 slash line, three home runs and three stolen bases.

  • Rangers' Nick Solak: Done for season

Solak is done for the season due to a right foot fracture, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports. A roster move will come Tuesday. Solak, 27, has been at least 10 percent worse than a league-average hitter in each of the last three seasons, which is a problem given that he is supposed to be a bat-first player. He will look to stick with the Rangers organization as a bench piece, but it would not be surprising if he were traded or cast off the 40-man roster this offseason.

  • Rangers' Nick Solak: In walking boot

Solak remains in a walking boot after getting hit in the foot by a pitch Wednesday against Oakland, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports. The Rangers reportedly aren't yet sure if Solak's foot is broken. If it is, his season would be over. His absence isn't a big loss for the Rangers, however, as he's started just once since returning to the big leagues at the beginning of September.
