The Marlins selected Monteverde's contract from Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday.
He'll join the Miami bullpen as a replacement for left-hander Cade Gibson, who was optioned to Triple-A. Monteverde made his big-league debut last season, giving up four earned runs over 3.2 innings in his lone appearance before being designated for assignment and clearing waivers. He's spent the entire 2026 campaign to date at Jacksonville, recording a 5.84 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 66:38 K:BB in 91 innings over 23 appearances (18 starts).

The 27-year-old was added to the big-league roster and allowed four earned runs over 3.2 frames in his MLB debut Saturday, but he won't retain his place on the 26-man and 40-man rosters. Cade Gibson was called up to replace Monteverde in Miami's bullpen.

Monteverde has appeared in three games for Jacksonville this season, giving up five earned runs while striking out six batters and walking four across 9.1 innings. The 27-year-old southpaw will now join the big-league roster to replace George Soriano and provide Miami with a fresh bullpen arm capable of pitching multiple innings. Monteverde's first appearance with the Marlins will be his MLB debut.
