White started in right field and went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Athletics.
White made a second consecutive start in right field, as Wilyer Abreu operated as the designated hitter Sunday following a day off Saturday due to lower-leg soreness. White was acquired from Atlanta at the trade deadline and will fill in where needed in the outfield. Since joining Boston, he's appeared in six games (two starts) and gone 3-for-11 with a walk, an RBI and three runs.

Red Sox's Eli White: Sent to Boston
Boston acquired White from Atlanta on Monday in exchange for right-hander Tyler Uberstine, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
White has largely served as a short-side platoon player in the Atlanta outfield this season, slashing .233/.285/.406 with five home runs and four stolen bases across 144 plate appearances. He'll likely fill a similar role in Boston, where he could replace the left-handed-hitting Jarren Duran in left field when the Red Sox face left-handed pitchers. White is under team control through the 2028 season.

White produced all three of Atlanta's extra-base hits in the victory and was responsible for all but one of the team's runs. He began the scoring with an RBI double in the second inning and added a solo blast to left field in the fourth. Saturday marked White's second start in four games since Ronald Acuna (hamstring) landed on the IL. The 31-year-old outfielder last played May 10, when he crashed into the outfield wall to rob the Dodgers' Max Muncy of a bases-loaded extra-base hit and came away with a concussion. White is slashing .237/.258/.390 through 62 plate appearances this season with two homers, eight runs and 10 RBI, and his return will give Atlanta another option to help fill in for Ronald Acuna (hamstring).

White was placed in the concussion protocol following Sunday's victory over the Dodgers, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
He made a spectacular catch to rob Max Muncy of an extra-base hit with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth inning, crashing face-first into the padded outfield wall. White temporarily remained in the contest but was then replaced by Mike Yastrzemski in the bottom of the eighth. White will need to gain clearance in order to play in Atlanta's next game, Tuesday versus the Cubs. If he's diagnosed with a concussion, White will be required to go on the 7-day injured list.

White suffered the injury during Sunday's win over the Dodgers when he crashed into the outfield wall after making a catch. His timetable is uncertain, as it is when anyone is shelved by a concussion, but White will be out for the next week, at minimum. White continues to be Atlanta's fourth outfielder, most often drawing into the lineup as a platoon partner for Mike Yastrzemski in right field. The steal was White's first this season after he notched 10 steals on 11 attempts over 105 games in the 2025 regular season. The outfielder is batting .232 with a .647 OPS, two home runs, nine RBI and eight runs scored across 61 plate appearances in 2026.

White would have been the favorite to start in center field while Michael Harris is away on paternity leave, but the former's injury will give Mauricio Dubon a start in the outfield Saturday. Atlanta has officially labeled White as day-to-day, so a trip to the IL doesn't appear to be on the horizon for the 31-year-old.
