Orioles' Jackson Kowar: Shipped to Baltimore
The Twins traded Kowar (shoulder) to the Orioles on Saturday in exchange for cash.
The Twins DFA'd Kowar on Thursday to make room for Anthony Banda, and the former will now find a home on Baltimore's 40-man roster. The 29-year-old righty finished 2025 with a 4.23 ERA and 1.24 WHIP across 17 innings with the Mariners and will have to break camp with the O's in order to keep his roster spot. Colin Selby (shoulder) was placed on the 60-day IL in a corresponding move.

Twins' Jackson Kowar: DFA'd by Twins
The Twins designated Kowar (shoulder) for assignment Thursday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
The transaction clears a 40-man roster spot for Anthony Banda, who was acquired via trade Thursday. Kowar was a waiver claim of the Twins earlier this month and could now be on the move again. He ended last season on the injured list with a right shoulder impingement, and it's unclear what Kowar's current health status is.

Twins' Jackson Kowar: Claimed by Minnesota
The Twins claimed Kowar off waivers from the Mariners on Tuesday.
The right-hander was designated for assignment by the Mariners last week after they acquired Jhonny Pereda from the Twins, so this ended up being somewhat of a trade. Before landing on the injured list with a shoulder impingement in August, Kowar posted a 4.24 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 15:7 K:BB across 17 innings out of the bullpen for Seattle.

Mariners' Jackson Kowar: Option reversed, lands on IL
The Mariners recalled Kowar from Triple-A Tacoma and placed him on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a right shoulder impingement, retroactive to Aug. 19.
Kowar was sent down to Triple-A in mid-August but hasn't pitched for Tacoma since being demoted. Now dealing with a shoulder issue, the 28-year-old will return to the big-league club to rehab his injury. He'll be eligible to return from the IL as soon as he's healthy, but there's currently no telling how close he is to activation.

He owns a 2.08 ERA through 8.2 frames with the Mariners this year, but his career 8.38 ERA will keep him limited to a low-leverage role in Seattle's bullpen. The transaction frees a spot on the active roster for the return of right-hander Logan Gilbert (elbow) from the injured list. Kowar made seven appearances after being activated from the 60-day injured list late last month, yielding two runs with an 8:3 K:BB over 8.2 frames.

Kowar will return to the majors after missing the entire 2024 season following Tommy John surgery last March. The 28-year-old right hander posted a 2.57 ERA and 1.29 WHIP across seven innings during his rehab assignment and did not yield a run in each of his last three outings. Kowar will likely open the season on the injured list, but the right-hander looks to be nearing the finish line in his recovery from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent last March. He'll presumably remain limited to throwing bullpen sessions and playing catch in the early weeks of spring training, but he could be ready to face hitters in live batting practice before the end of camp. Kowar has a minor-league option remaining, so the Mariners could choose to send him to Triple-A Tacoma once he's fully recovered from surgery if the big club doesn't have a spot available for him in its bullpen.

Mariners' Jackson Kowar: Requires Tommy John surgery
The Mariners placed Kowar on the 60-day injured list Sunday after he was diagnosed with a torn UCL in his right elbow. He'll undergo Tommy John surgery next Friday in Dallas, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
After experiencing arm soreness early last week, Kowar was sent in for tests Friday, at which point the UCL damage was detected. The 27-year-old will miss the entirety of the upcoming campaign and likely the first couple months of 2025 as well. Kowar, whom Seattle acquired from Atlanta in December, was expected to handle a low-leverage role out of the Mariners bullpen.

Mariners' Jackson Kowar: Getting sore arm checked out
Kowar will meet with a doctor Friday to have his sore right arm examined, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
The Mariners gave Kowar a couple days to rest and that evidently didn't knock the soreness out, so he's set to be evaluated further. It's not clear whether the soreness is in his elbow or shoulder. Kowar might have been pitching his way into a bullpen spot with three strikeouts over two scoreless innings this spring, but now it's possible he could be sidelined for a while.
