  • Phillies' Wen-Hui Pan: Pitching out of bullpen at High-A

Double-A Reading reinstated Pan (elbow) from its 7-day injured list May 19 and assigned him to High-A Jersey Shore. Pan has completed his recovery from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent in November 2024. The right-hander could eventually move up to Reading, but he'll stick around for the time being at Jersey Shore, with whom he's struck out four over five scoreless frames in four appearances.

  • Phillies' Wen Hui Pan: Recovering from Tommy John surgery

Pan had Tommy John surgery in November and will miss the entire 2025 season, Jonathan Mayo of MLB Pipeline reports. A 22-year-old righty whom the Phillies signed out of Taiwan in January of 2023, Pan only managed 63.2 innings in 2023 and 29.1 innings in 2024. He has big-time stuff when healthy, so there's a chance he could end up a high-leverage reliever if it doesn't work for him in the rotation. Pan had a 2.15 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 35 strikeouts in 29.1 innings last year, primarily at High-A.

  • Phillies' Wen Hui Pan: Comes off 60-day IL

High-A Jersey Shore reinstated Pan (finger) from the 60-day injured list Friday. Pan is poised to make his 2024 debut with Jersey Shore after he was placed on the IL coming out of spring training due to a broken pinkie finger on his right hand. He should make his first start for Jersey Shore in the coming days after he completed four rehab starts between the rookie-level Florida Complex League and Single-A Clearwater. He covered 8.1 innings over those four starts, striking out 13 batters while allowing four earned runs on nine hits and two walks.
