Phillies' Kody Clemens: Headed for role reduction
Clemens is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.
Clemens had started nine of the Phillies' last 10 games, going 7-for-34 (.206 average) with a home run, three doubles, six RBI and five runs. His starting opportunities will likely be few and far between moving forward, however, as Alec Bohm (hand) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Sunday and will slot back in as the Phillies' everyday third baseman.

Clemens will pick up a sixth consecutive start at the hot corner after going 5-for-21 with a home run, two doubles, one walk and five RBI over the previous five contests. Phillies' Kody Clemens: Homers Tuesday
Clemens went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Blue Jays.
Clemens put the Phillies ahead for good in the second inning with a two-run blast off Bowden Francis, his fourth long ball of the year. Since he was recalled Sep. 1, the 28-year-old Clemens has gone 2-for-8 with three runs scored and three RBI. Overall, he's slashing .243/.274/.529 with 11 runs scored and 13 RBI in 73 plate appearances. While Clemens has primarily filled a bench role for the Phillies, he could see more playing time down the stretch with both Alec Bohm (hand) and Bryce Harper (elbow) nursing injuries.

Phillies' Kody Clemens: Gets call to majors
The Phillies recalled Clemens from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday.
Clemens will provide an extra left-handed bat for the Philadelphia infield, but he won't enter the lineup Sunday against Atlanta right-hander Spencer Schwellenbach, even with everyday third baseman Alec Bohm (hand) out of the lineup for the third game in a row. The Phillies will go with Edmundo Sosa at third base, but both he and Clemens are likely to serve as bench players for the foreseeable future, as Bohm worked out on the field Sunday and could be ready to return to the lineup following Monday's team off day. Over his previous two stints with the big club this season, Clemens hit .242 with three home runs, 10 RBI and eight runs over 65 plate appearances.

Clemens (back) will begin a rehab assignment later this week, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
Gelb notes that Clemens is set to receive regular reps in left field while on his rehab assignment. Clemens has been out since early June with lower-back spasms.
