  • Red Sox's Jarren Duran: Late addition to lineup

Duran will start in left field and bat eighth Saturday against the Athletics.

Duran was left out of the first iteration of Saturday's lineup, but he'll join the starting nine to replace Wilyer Abreu, who was scratched with a calf injury. Duran owns a .685 OPS since the All-Star break but has slugged three home runs in six games since the beginning of August.

Duran will get a chance to catch his breath Saturday after slashing .250/.277/.408 across 84 plate appearances while playing in each of Boston's games since the All-Star break. Eli White will take over in left field and bat seventh.

Duran went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk during the Red Sox's 13-1 win over the Athletics on Friday.

Duran got the Red Sox's scoring started with a two-run homer in the second inning, with Boston scoring three additional runs off Jack Perkins in the frame. Duran has struggled offensively for much of the season but has been far better at the plate as of late. Over his last seven games, he's gone 9-for-27 with two steals, three walks, three home runs and six RBI.

  • Red Sox's Jarren Duran: Snaps homer drought

Duran went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 8-4 win over the Dodgers.

Duran snapped a 22-game homer drought with a solo shot in the sixth inning. It was the last of the four HRs hit by Boston, which completed a sweep of the Dodgers in Los Angeles. When the Red Sox spiraled in the first half, Duran's name often came up in trade speculation, but the team's recent turnaround makes it buyers heading into Monday's trade deadline. Duran, who entered the All-Star break with a .194 average, clawed his way back to .200 following Sunday's contest (.233 in second half).

  • Red Sox's Jarren Duran: Getting rest Wednesday

Duran isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics.

Duran doesn't typically step out of the lineup against left-handed starters, but the Red Sox will give him a day off Wednesday with southpaw Jacob Lopez set to toe the slab for the A's. Jahmai Jones will fill in as Boston's left fielder and bat leadoff.

  • Red Sox's Jarren Duran: Idle Saturday

Duran is out of the lineup Saturday against Tampa Bay.

The left-handed-hitting Duran will ride the pine for Saturday's matinee against the Rays, with left-hander Ian Seymour taking the mound. Jahmai Jones will take over in left field for Duran and bat eighth for Boston.

  • Red Sox's Jarren Duran: Heading to bench vs. lefty

Duran is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the White Sox.

After being included in the lineup against White Sox lefty Noah Schultz in Tuesday's series opener, the left-handed-hitting Duran will retreat to the bench for the finale while southpaw Anthony Kay toes the rubber for Chicago. Nate Eaton will step in for Duran in left field and will bat seventh.

  • Red Sox's Jarren Duran: Launches 13th homer in win

Duran went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Sunday's 7-5 win over the Angels.

Duran snapped a 15-game homerless streak, during which he went 4-for-50 (.080), with a two-run blast in the second inning to get the Red Sox on the board. The 29-year-old has struggled mightily at the plate this season, slashing .197/.259/.361 with 13 homers, 43 RBI, 39 runs and 14 stolen bases across 81 contests. Despite his struggles, Duran has continued to operate as the club's primary left fielder, though he cedes some playing time to Nate Eaton against southpaws.

  • Red Sox's Jarren Duran: Held out of lineup against lefty

Duran is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

The left-handed-hitting Duran will hit the bench for a third straight matchup versus a lefty starter/primary pitcher (Andrew Alvarez) and looks as though he'll be relegated to a strong-side platoon role while he's slashed .216/.284/.297 (61 wRC+) in 81 plate appearances versus southpaws on the season. Nate Eaton will replace Duran in left field and will bat seventh.

  • Red Sox's Jarren Duran: Omitted from lineup

Duran is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees.

Duran has gone 3-for-37 with a 3:13 BB:K over his last 10 games, so the Red Sox will spare the left-handed-hitting outfielder from a matchup with a southpaw starter (Carlos Rodon) while he's stuck in an extended rut at the dish. Nate Eaton will replace Duran in left field and will bat leadoff.

  • Red Sox's Jarren Duran: Receiving afternoon off

Duran is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.

Duran went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts in Tuesday's 5-2 win, leaving him hitless over his last four starts and bringing his season-long average down to .199, which places him 150th among the majors' 153 qualified hitters. The left-handed-hitting Duran's fortunes were unlikely to take a turn for the better with southpaw Kyle Freeland on the mound Wednesday, so the struggling outfielder will head to the bench after a stretch of 46 consecutive starts. Nate Eaton will take over Duran's spot in left field and will bat leadoff.

  • Red Sox's Jarren Duran: Moved out of leadoff spot

Duran will start in left field and bat fifth in Friday's game against the Rangers.

It's the first time since April 25 that Duran has batted anywhere other than leadoff. After a strong showing in May during which he put up a .879 OPS with nine home runs and five stolen bases, Duran is just 5-for-33 with no homers, one steal and a 0:14 BB:K so far in June. Mickey Gasper is batting leadoff for the Red Sox on Friday.

The speedy outfielder has hit safely in seven consecutive games and nine of his last 10 outings, homering five times during that latter span. Through 212 at-bats this year, Duran is batting .217 with 19 extra-base hits, 32 RBI, 10 runs scored and 27 runs scored.

Duran went 4-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 8-0 win over Atlanta.

Duran homered for a second consecutive game and extended his on-base streak as Boston's leadoff batter to 11 games. During that run, he's slashed .333/.426/.711 with four home runs, nine RBI and seven runs scored. The multi-hit effort -- his fifth in the last nine contests -- raised his average to .213, its highest point since the second game of the season. It will be interesting to see if the Red Sox keep Duran at leadoff when Roman Anthony (finger) is ready to return.
