Phillies' Nolan Hoffman: Returns to Triple-A
Hoffman was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley after Thursday's doubleheader against the Giants.
Hoffman was added to the major-league roster ahead of the team's doubleheader versus San Francisco. He tossed two innings, giving up one run on four hits and a walk while striking out a batter in the team's 6-5 extra-inning win in the nightcap. Hoffman has now pitched 3.1 innings, allowing one run while striking out two over two appearances with the Phillies this season.

Phillies' Nolan Hoffman: Up as 27th man
The Phillies recalled Hoffman from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday.
Hoffman was just optioned Tuesday, but he's back to serve as the 27th man for Thursday's doubleheader against the Giants. The righty reliever will provide bullpen protection before likely being sent back down following the twin bill.

The Phillies optioned Hoffman to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday.
The right-hander was called up by the Phillies on Thursday and will head back to Triple-A after firing 1.1 scoreless frames in his lone appearance. That strong showing combined with Hoffman's 2.35 ERA across seven outings for Lehigh Valley this season -- assuming he maintains that form -- should help him to get another look in the majors later this year.

Hoffman made his MLB debut with a single appearance for the Phillies last season, and he showed his upside during spring training with a 10:1 K:BB across 7.1 innings. The 28-year-old had a 4.85 ERA and 1.46 WHIP across 65 innings at the Triple-A level last year, and he'll likely need to show a bit more consistency at Lehigh Valley to earn a longer look in the majors.

The Phillies acquired Hoffman from the Rangers on Wednesday in exchange for cash considerations. Philadelphia selected Hoffman's contract and optioned him to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Hoffman has been at Triple-A Round Rock all season, collecting a 5.91 ERA and 46:21 K:BB over 35 innings. The 27-year-old has not made an appearance in the big leagues, but he'll now get a spot on Philadelphia's 40-man roster and could have a clearer path to making his MLB debut later on this season.

Rangers' Nolan Hoffman: Signs with Texas
Hoffman signed a minor-league contract with the Rangers on Thursday and received an invitation to spring training.
Hoffman spent all of last season with the Orioles' Triple-A affiliate, where he finished with a 3.88 ERA and 1.74 WHIP with 77 strikeouts over 58 innings. The 27-year-old right-hander has yet to appear in an MLB game and is likely destined to remain in the minors to begin 2025.
